Far from the dark, tortured image often associated with his music, the works on this album testify to an astonishingly serene period in Schumann’s life. A fine subject for this first album by the Hanson Quartet for harmonia mundi, whose members are partnered by Adam Laloum for a thrilling reading of a masterpiece of the Romantic repertory: the Piano Quintet.

Standing Ovation! Trio Wanderer lived up to their remarkable reputation with our San Jose community. A special encore, the Andante con moto movement from Schubert's Trio Opus 100, got the crowd to their feet! And then they gave us a Dvořák encore, the final dumka from his Dumky Trio, Op. 90, to boot!

After Berg, Schoenberg, Bartók and Stravinsky, Isabelle Faust now tackles Britten with Jakub Hrůša and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, revealing a little-known face to the British composer. This concerto, highly personal in its language, combines drama with humour, seriousness with satire ,in music of overwhelming emotional depth. The programme is completed by early chamber works.

Après Berg, Schoenberg, Bartók ou encore Stravinsky, Isabelle Faust aborde aujourd’hui Britten avec Jakub Hrůšaet l’Orchestre de la Radio Bavaroise, révélant un visage peu connu du compositeur britannique. Ce concerto au langage extrêmement personnel conjugue le drame avec l’humour, le sérieux avec la satire, dans une bouleversante profondeur émotionnelle. Des pages chambristes de jeunesse complètent le programme.
