It's Not All-or-Nothing

Business tip for Thursday, October 31st, 2024

While having a solid business plan is undoubtedly essential, it's not the only, or even the most important, factor in securing funding. Building strong relationships with potential investors is often just as, if not more, crucial.

Here are some tips for building relationships early:

Attend industry events: Network with other entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts.

Join online communities: Participate in forums and groups related to your industry and funding.

Reach out to mentors: Seek guidance from experienced entrepreneurs or investors.

Follow up consistently: Stay in touch with potential investors, even if they're not ready to invest right away.

Think of it like building a network of supporters. The more people who know you, your business, and your vision, the more likely you are to find the right investors. These relationships provide a foundation of trust and understanding, which can significantly increase your chances of success.

Morning brief...

Harris speech

Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her campaign's "closing argument" Tuesday evening at the Ellipse in Washington, DC — the same site former President Donald Trump told his supporters on January 6, 2021, to "fight like hell" before they ransacked the US Capitol. Harris said next week's election presents a stark choice for voters: "It is a choice about whether we will have a country rooted in freedom for every American — or ruled by chaos and division." While addressing poignant issues for voters, Harris also sought to confront her biggest political weakness by saying major political figures need to stop using immigration as a wedge and rather see it as a serious challenge that needs solving. Harris said she will work across party lines to sign the border security bill she said Trump killed.

Morning brief...

Election countdown

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are trying to reach as many voters as possible one week from Election Day. Harris is scheduled to deliver the final major address of her campaign today at the Ellipse — a park just outside the South Lawn of the White House where Trump rallied his supporters ahead of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Trump will be in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, where he's joining an event in Drexel Hill and holding a rally in Allentown. This comes as more than 43 million ballots have been cast across 47 states and the District of Columbia. CNN's most recent national poll found that Harris had a large lead among early voters, despite a virtually tied race overall.

Why the People’s Democratic Movement is the Best Choice for Montserrat’s Future

As we approach the October 24th elections, the future of Montserrat stands at a pivotal moment. The People's Democratic Movement (PDM) is the clear choice to lead Montserrat forward. Here’s why:

**Tackling the High Cost of Living
The cost of living has soared under the current administration, putting immense pressure on families and businesses. PDM has concrete plans to tackle this head-on. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Introduce a range of 15 measures to improve the cost of living as immediate actions PDM will take to improve lives and livelihoods.
• Cut food and basic goods prices by supporting local farmers and improving import logistics, ensuring that the people of Montserrat can afford essential items without breaking the bank.

PDM understands the financial strain on our people and will work tirelessly to reduce the cost of living.

**Creating Jobs and New Industries
Montserrat needs good-paying jobs, and PDM has a bold, forward-thinking vision to create them. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Diversify the economy with new sectors like eco-tourism, marine tourism, and agritourism, bringing in millions in revenue and hundreds of jobs.
• Rebuild the financial services sector, making Montserrat a hub for offshore banking and financial technology (FinTech), creating high-paying jobs and positioning us as a key player in the global market.
• Establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to attract both local and international businesses, driving investment, employment, and economic growth.

With PDM, Montserrat will not just talk about economic revival – PDM will deliver it.

**Investing in Agriculture and Food Security
Food security is essential for Montserrat’s future, and PDM will ensure that Montserrat grows more of what we consume. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Support local farmers by providing better access to farming tools, training, and financial assistance to help them increase production and lower food costs.
• Promote sustainable agriculture to boost food security and ensure that Montserrat is less dependent on expensive food imports.

With a stronger agricultural sector, Montserrat can feed itself and reduce the cost of living for everyone.

**Improving Access and Transportation
Montserrat’s access challenges have long been a problem. PDM is committed to fixing access to the island. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Restore reliable ferry services, ensuring affordable and convenient sea access for both residents and visitors.
• Reintroduce the Twin Otter for safer and more cost-effective air travel, making it easier for Montserratians to travel and for tourists to visit the island. PDM will advocate and ensure that the RESA at John A. Osborne Airport is removed.

PDM will ensure that Montserrat is more connected and accessible, fostering growth in tourism and business.

**Youth and Educational Development
Our youth are the future of Montserrat, and PDM is committed to investing in their success. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Invest in digital education and skills training, preparing our young people for the global digital economy—offering opportunities in tech, coding, and other cutting-edge fields.
• Develop programs that keep our youth on the island, reducing brain drain by creating jobs that match their talents and aspirations.
• Ensure that our schools are equipped with Teachers and that no child is left behind

With PDM, Montserrat’s youth will have the opportunities they deserve, right here at home.

**Improving Healthcare and Finalizing the New Hospital.
Healthcare is a fundamental right, and PDM will transform Montserrat’s healthcare system. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Complete the new hospital project, ensuring that everyone has access to modern, high-quality healthcare facilities.
• Improve conditions for healthcare workers, ensuring that Montserrat has the doctors, nurses, and staff needed to provide top-notch care.
With PDM, healthcare in Montserrat will be modern, accessible, and reliable for all.

**Reliable Electricity for All
For far too long, Montserrat has been plagued by power outages. PDM will fix this once and for all. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will:
• Upgrade and modernize the island’s power grid, ensuring stable and affordable electricity for homes and businesses.
• Bring on stream sustainable energy solutions to reduce energy costs and make Montserrat greener.

Reliable electricity is not just a convenience - it’s a necessity, and PDM will deliver.

**Constitutional Reform and Empowering Montserratians
It is time to redefine the balance of power in Montserrat. PDM - People's Democratic Movement will push for constitutional reform that addresses the powers of the Governor, ensuring that Montserratians have more control over their own affairs.

The People's Democratic Movement (PDM) has a clear, bold, and achievable plan to revitalise Montserrat’s economy, improve quality of life, and secure a brighter future for all. From reducing the cost of living and creating jobs to ensuring reliable power, better healthcare, and more control over our island’s governance, PDM is ready to lead.

On October 24th, vote for progress, vote for jobs, and vote for a better Montserrat. Vote for the PDM - the party with the vision and the plans to take Montserrat forward.

PDM is Fired Up! Ready to Lead!

Check out more about PDM at www.pdmmontserrat.com

Let’s build Montserrat’s future together. Vote PDM.
