Governor signs Proclamation For October 24 General Election on Montserrat
Her Excellency the Governor, Mrs. Sarah Tucker has signed a proclamation to pave the way for the 2024 General Election on Montserrat.
The Governor signed the proclamation on August 22, 2024 after consulting with the Premier, Hon. Joseph E. Farrell as provided for in section 67(2) of the Montserrat Constitution (Cap.1.01). Therefore, Parliament on Montserrat has been dissolved as of Thursday, 22nd August.
Additionally, in accordance with section 69 of the Montserrat Constitution Order 2010, (Cap.1.01) Governor Tucker issued the proclamation and appointed Thursday 24th October as the date for general elections on Montserrat.
The Writ of Election was also signed on the 22nd of August by the Governor to allow for the nomination of Candidates on the 10th of October 2024 at the Montserrat Cultural Centre in Little Bay.
The last general election was on November 18, 2019 on Montserrat.

Director of Antigua and Barbuda's Tourism Authority in Canada Ms Tameka Wharton introducing members of the ABTA's Canada Team, who worked tirelessly with her and others to host a packed itinerary of events, as cricket Knights Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Anderson Roberts, Sir Richard Richardson, and Sir Curtly Ambrose recently were on hand in Canada doing a series of landmark public appearances throughout the Greater Toronto Area promoting T20 World Cup Cricket games to be held in Antigua & Barbuda during the month of June.
Director Wharton was speaking last Saturday, May 11th, at The Legendary Brunch held at The Albany Club, Toronto. The Brunch was hosted by the Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.

The Knights’ visit came at an exciting time for the future of cricket in Canada, as a growing South Asian and Afro-Caribbean diaspora continues to bolster the sport into becoming the country’s fastest-growing sport. Additionally, 2024 marks Canada's first time to play in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Antigua and Barbuda set to host eight exciting matches at its Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
