Iconic US saxophonist/composer Jean Toussaint’s ‘Songs for Sisters, Brothers and Others’, is out this Thursday with a London launch at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club on Thursday night.

A member of Art Blakey’s legendary Jazz Messengers in the 1980s, Jean has also worked with McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton, Gil Evans and Horace Silver. On ‘Songs for Sisters, Brothers and Others’ he features fourteen musicians, including Soweto Kinch, Dennis Rollins, Byron Wallen, Jack Banjo Courtney, Jason Rebello, Mutale Chashi and Ben Brown.

London-based guitarist Tom Remon’s fourth album ‘Ho Nim Myo’ is out now. It follows collaborations with many UK greats and over 50 nationwide dates over the past year, as well as appearances in Morocco and Poland with David Lyttle. ‘Ho Nim Myo’ features iconic British pianist Jonathan Gee, Mikele Montolli (bass) and Emmanuel Franklyn Adelabu (drums). Tom will be touring in the UK throughout this year and in Europe in October.

We are excited to be releasing iconic US saxophonist/composer Jean Toussaint’s ‘Songs for Sisters, Brothers and Others’, his fourth album with Lyte Records, on July 20th.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my activities over the last few weeks. I had a great tour of the UK with the brilliant Tom Remon - Guitar and a west to east tour of Canada – special thanks to my long term Canadian friend and musical associate Nick Morgan. I’ve also enjoyed presenting some fantastic young talent in my ‘Jazzlife’ concerts with my youth scheme Jazz Juniors. This week it was an honour to play the London Jazz Festival in a group put together by Phil Robson Official with Jean Toussaint and Dave Whitford. We are excited to welcome expressions of interest in our second Jazz Juniors ensemble. Following our search for talent in August, we will form a small ensemble of aspiring NI jazz musicians under 18 who will work with our artistic director, internationally-acclaimed, MOBO Award nominated jazz musician David Lyttle, every month at the MAC, Belfast, and perform concerts throughout Northern Ireland. This ensemble will also take part in masterclasses with world-renowned jazz musicians.
