A nice note from about what must have been the first Scenic Vermont show.
Back in the early ‘00s we had played with an early Joe DeNardo band (w Zack Carlson and Jeremy Atkins) and were fans of their label Thin The Herd. We would set up shows w their other projects in the Bay, including the proto Growing duo 1000 AD (at the 40th St warehouse - iykyk)
We ended up taking on a release that had been planned for Yellow Swans' Collective Jyrk label - a split release for Growing and M Evan Burden that saw light of day in 2005. When it came time to do this 25th anniversary compilation Zum Audio Vol 5 we reached out to as they provided a throughline for the west coast scene for two decades while still pushing forward, making beautiful music as a duo and recently in collaboration w . It has also been great to see the evolution of Kevin and Joe’s solo acts over the years.
The idea of bringing them back to the Bay Area (where they have not played since 2011) felt right for our 25th birthday show at w our pals . Extra chuffed to have this show copresented by who are a formative institution for so many of our tastes.
