Finding a therapist can be like dating…
What we mean is, you may date around before you find the one…aka therapist
Here are some things to consider:
1. Personal Compatibility: Find someone you feel comfortable with. Maybe asking yourself if someone of the same gender, or similar background is a priority for you.
2. Experience and Specialization: Seek a therapist with relevant expertise to what you are wanting to work on: addiction, divorce, family trauma.
3. Professionalism: Pay attention to how the therapist communicates and interacts with you. They should be empathetic, non-judgmental, and respectful of your boundaries.
