IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT..
Wild Community!
It is with a very heavy heart that we must inform you of the POSTPONEMENT of the 2023 edition of “Where The Wild Things are Festival” to Saturday 10th February 2024. We have not made this decision lightly and after considering all viable options to make this work, we feel it’s our safest passage through a very fragile and unpredictable events industry at the moment.
In light of the current situation and for us to hold the festival at the large scale we pride ourselves in providing, with a high level quality production and improvements that we’ve initiated, is extremely difficult. This is due to a number of reasons, but essentially, inflation, the weather and a shift in buyer behavior post-covid. Resulting in delayed/reduced ticket sales, increased costs across the entire festival, lower attendance at our recent “warm-up” events and causing us immense financial strain, ultimately leading to this decision.
Red Forest (aka Where The Wild Things Are Festival) is an entirely independent company, with no backing from investors or sponsors. Whilst maintaining our ethos on hosting affordable events and ensuring our ticket prices are low, consequently means we have little money in the kitty to absorb any losses, of which there has been many recently. Low attendance at our events and specifically this festival would result in major financial losses, potentially leaving us unable to host any future productions and affecting our personal/family lives negatively.
After weighing up our options and taking industry advice from professionals, we’re not willing to take the risk and gamble our houses (literally) on the chance that the festival will sell out in the final week, whilst the consumer environment has changed and numerous other festivals are reporting dramatically reduced attendance and large financial losses.
All that aside, we thoroughly enjoy hosting these events for you and want to continue doing so. We simply need to reassess the climate and adapt to provide something that is affordable and low risk. With this in mind, for all of you who have purchased festival tickets, we are eternally grateful for your support and will provide a full refund if you choose.
All ticket buyers will have the option to self-refund their tickets (excluding fees) via Humanitix from Monday 9th up until Tuesday January 31st 2023. A separate mail out detailing instructions for refunding tickets will be sent out to all ticket holders by the end of this weekend.
To continue the giving and to ensure that the huge acts we have already paid for and flown into Oz aren’t missed, we will host a separate single-day event at “The Third Day” in North Melbourne on “Sunday 12th February” at a very affordable price, with top-quality music and an electric atmosphere - we really hope you can make it along.
As stated above, current ticket holders will have the option to be refunded, but to encourage you along to this new festive event, we will also be providing you an option to purchase a discounted ticket to our new event (see instructions below).
Above all we would like to thank you all for the support you have shown over the years. We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved; creating a magical and unique festival that has provided a space for all you to celebrate friendship with the best music and art, on a day that brings nothing but good memories. You inspire us to push forth and we hope that the tides will turn soon, bringing all promoters/events success; allowing us to laugh, dance and celebrate the good times ahead.
See you all on Sunday 12th February @ The Third Day!
