When writing Facebook ad copy, you first want to make sure that you're speaking directly to your target audience. What are their pain points? What are they struggling with?

Once you've identified what matters to your target audience, use that information to create an ad headline that promises a solution. For example, "Get More Leads in Less Time" or "Lose weight, feel great, and look fantastic"

Then, focus on using the body of your ad to back up the headline. Give readers a taste of what they can expect if they take action on your offer. And finally, always include a clear call to action so people know what to do next.

1. Are you targeting the correct audience?
2. Is the ad copy misleading? Is there a disconnect between the ad and the landing page that puts people off?
3. Is the website loading slowly? This usually is a big reason.
4. Is your checkout process clunky?
5. Is it a price factor? You can address this in your ad copy. Make it clear.

Let's talk funnels!

Consider a sales funnel as the journey someone takes from not knowing a business through to becoming a loyal customer. There will be various things that warm them up during that process and start to build the ‘know, like and trust factor. With Facebook Ads, your funnel will always start with cold traffic and throughout each stage, the audience will become smaller and smaller as you move down the funnel to convert someone to buy.

A typical Facebook advertising campaign will always have at least 2 stages. A Top of Funnel (TOF) campaign where you are targeting cold traffic and a Bottom of Funnel (BOF) campaign where you are retargeting the people who didn’t take the desired action in your top of funnel campaign.

For example, A typical Ecomm campaign will use the top of funnel ads to drive people to look at a product, and the bottom of funnel ads are then shown to people who looked at the product but didn’t take that action and buy it. The bottom of the funnel campaign will retarget them with an offer or some compelling copy to create urgency. You might also use a Dynamic product Ad (DPA ) for this.

1 - Decide on your objectives and goals. Set them well. Whether it's brand awareness or your goal is to drive traffic to your website to convert sales. This will influence your content strategy.⠀

2 - Get to know your audience. Who is your ideal audience and what do they want to see? How can you help them with their problems? ⠀⠀⠀

3 - Research your competition. Look at what they are doing, determine what you like or dislike, and think about ways you can attract your audience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4 - Tone of voice, how are you going to come across. Do you have a professional business that the tone needs to be informative, serious without any emojis or fun GIFS. Or maybe your tone is friendly and fun, sharing funny GIFS or memes. ⠀⠀⠀

TEST, TEST & TEST 👏
When starting a new ad campaign it's so important to test what works and what doesn't.

What should you be testing?

Audiences
copy
Creatives - pictures vs a video
Placements
Demographics
Pixel Data
And more

When testing you need to allow plenty of time for the ads to feed out. I suggest at least 3 to 5 days.

TIP! When testing at the ads level.
✅Test 2 ads ad a time.
✅Test one variable at a time eg different images with the same copy.
✅Duplicate the winning ad and make a change for your next test.

💡YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A MIN 2 ADS RUNNING IN YOUR AD SET.

The more budget you have, the more effective testing you can carry out.

Mindset is everything! Keep going and stay focused on your goals!

So your ads aren't working? You're not getting the sales or leads you want. Here are a few reasons why this could be.

👉1. You are using the wrong campaign objective. This is very important. What do you want to achieve from running ads? For example, if you want sales, then select conversions optimised for purchases. Facebook will go out and find those people for you.

👉2. You are editing your ads too soon! Facebook needs at least 7 days learning phase to see what's working and what isn't. If you edit your ads too soon during this phase, they will stay in learning for longer and more likely go into limited learning which can cost you more in ad spend.

👉3. BUDGET! You aren't spending enough. Depending on your objectives and goal, the bigger the ask the bigger the budget needs to be. I recommend spending 80% at the top of the funnel (cold audience) and 20% of your budget at the bottom of the funnel (warm audience).

👉4. Your ad isn't scroll stopping. You need an eye-catching image or video. The headline needs to hook people in. Your ad copy needs to be snappy or to the point with a clear call to action.

All of these variations can be tested against each other to see what works best in order to scale and optimise your ads.

The images and videos you choose will play a key part in your ad's success. Think about how people see ads in their feed and how you can make your ads stand out from the crowd.

1. The brain registers an image or video first, then we stop scrolling.

2. The headline grabs attention which sparks curiosity or action.

3. Copy which compels people to take the next step. Remember the first three lines are crucial as they are all you will see above the ' see more..' link.

4. Include line breaks or emojis to make your copy stand out and easier to read.

5. There is no right or wrong when it comes to the length of great ad copy.

This is where you create your target audience based on criteria such as age, interests, behaviours, and more. You can be as broad as you like. Remember this is a cold audience.

Have a good understanding of your client/ customer.
Create a user persona.
Use Audience Insights to help you build your ideal audience.

There is no right or wrong when it comes done to audience size. It will always come down to testing. However, these are the suggested minimum sizes for COLD audiences per objective.

👉Engagement ideally over 10k
👉Traffic ideally over 20k
👉Conversions over 50k but ideally over 500k.

The Facebook pixel is a piece of code that sits on your website that allows you to track people's activity in order to better re-target them.

The pixel:
☑️ Tracks what happens from website to visitors who are logged in to Facebook in the background (most people don't really log out these days).
☑️ Re-target visitors and focus ads.
☑️ Helps you build audiences.
☑️Find more people who are like your existing customers/visitors (lookalike audience).
☑️ Track how successful your ads are.

Even if you are not running Ads yet it is still worth installing the pixel on there. The longer your pixel is on your website the better the data, so even if you aren't ready to launch Facebook Ads it is most definitely worth having a pixel on there..
