2024 was quite an exciting year for me in the outdoors. A lot of firsts, starting with my first big game animal, a black bear, then I catch my first coyote, followed by a first muskrat. A week later, and I harvest my first deer. Right before Christmas, I went on my first rabbit hunt with dogs, and got one! Throw in my first boar raccoon after getting only sows last year, and you can see why it was so exciting.
Ready for what 2025 brings!

Had a great time at this Learn To Hunt Rabbits event put on by the Wisconsin Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
It was a lot of fun seeing the beagles running after the rabbits in such a beautiful area of the state!

Made and set my first muskrat floats today! Can't wait to try muskrat meat.

This weekend's results. My first boar raccoon and my first catch of the season. Also my first pull out from a coyote. First time putting up a fur, definitely some room for improvement.

One bear cut up and frozen! Gave away a few pounds, but it still fills up the new freezer a good deal. Next I'll rendered down the fat, and get the skin tanned. Maybe a European mount too.

Huge goal accomplished today with this Wisconsin black bear harvest. So thankful to my family and friends for helping me accomplish this dream that's been 15 years in the making. Now, hopefully, I can get my first deer at some point!
