A flood warning remains in effect until Wednesday morning for the Tippecanoe River from Ora to Monticello. The river at Winamac is expected to crest at 11.1 feet (a foot above flood stage) Saturday night.
The town park (seen here) at Winamac is closed and flooded - resulting in the cancellation of the July 18-21 NIPFP Power Show. River craft rentals have also been cancelled this weekend. Some precautions have been put in place at Tippecanoe River State Park as well.
The Tippecanoe is expected to fall below flood stage in Winamac early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The Northern Indiana Power From the Past show in Winamac (July 18-21) has been cancelled due to the condition of the show grounds ...

Today directors and officers of the Northern Indiana Power from the Past met in the Winamac town park. Due to the heavy rainfall our area has experienced, 7 inches in some areas, and the river having not crested yet, the directors have voted to cancel our 47th annual summer show.

This decision was not made lightly. The directors and officers visited the show grounds and held a lengthy debate. We feel that the grounds in their current and future state will not support us having a show.

We look forward to seeing you next summer.

One of the primary goals of the Pulaski County 4-H & Community Fair is to showcase the projects completed by the county's 4-H youth - demonstrating what they have learned in this valuable program which develops talents as well as important skills and values.
For many years now 4-H members have included “city kids” as well as “farm kids.” They participate because it’s fun and they make new friends. But along the way they learn how to undertake a project and carry it through to completion - and how to do it better next year.
Here is a selection of photos from 4-H Building projects. Judging results and additional photos may be found at www.pulaskipost.com

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
"While the Fourth of July conjures up images of fireworks and parades, barbecues and bonfires, the United States has another Independence Day tradition: naturalizing new citizens. An estimated 11,000 people will celebrate the holiday this year by officially becoming American citizens," according to the Washington Post.
Among the requirements they have completed is passing a citizenship test. For a Fourth-of-July brainteaser, can you pass a sample test of 10 questions?

How much do you know about America? In honor of July Fourth, test your knowledge with some of the questions aspiring U.S. citizens must answer to become naturalized.

Indiana loses farmland 2010-22, but gains in ag production
INDIANAPOLIS (July 1) – The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) submitted an inventory of lost farmland report to the Legislative Council Monday.
ISDA determined through the inventory of lost farmland that there has been an overall reduction of farmland acres of approximately 1.5 to 2 percent from 2010-22. This represents a loss of approximately 350,000 acres. However, despite the loss in acreage, yield data from USDA NASS shows that Indiana’s production of its cash crops has increased.
