4 Charlcote Place is a classic Williamsburg Colonial nestled away in a court on one of Guilford’s most iconic streets.
Architectural details throughout this house inside and out truly make it one of a kind.
🟣The front facade is a duplicate of Ratcliffe Manor in Talbot County while the front door is a copy of the Hammond- Harwood House in Annapolis.
🟣All of the stone used in the windowsills as well as the front and back steps was taken from the same quarry that furnished stonework for Monticello and Mount Vernon.
🟣All of the interior trim is wood and every detail was copied from various celebrated Colonial homes in Maryland and Virginia with the exception of the Palladian window in the stairway. That window is a duplicate of the one used by Robert Adam, a famed English architect from the
late 18th Century.
🟣The main stairway came from the first building used by Johns Hopkins University.
🟣The floors throughout the home are from the first theater built in Baltimore circa 1745.

Friends and neighbors recall watching the activity near Charles Street for months as contractors expanded the footprint to create a wow open kitchen and new mudroom addition and reconfigured the front loading garage to a sideloading structure with additional off-street parking. The owners are pleased with their green decision to install the geothermal heating and cooling system -- the eight wells are buried in the front yard.
