Steve Coogan is to star as Mick McCarthy and Éanna Hardwicke as Roy Keane in SAIPAN, a feature film about their infamous incident at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

The film will be about the events leading up to Ireland’s heated World Cup campaign. The film shoots this summer and will be released Summer 2025.

Villa have won the English top tier title seven (7) times, not nine, as shown here. They've included two Division two titles, as if they are the same thing. Would Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid, Ajax, etc, do that?

There was a lot of excitement regarding Black Sabbath's involvement in the Villa kit launch video, but the venue, The Crown, they played their first gig (and many others) is in danger of being turned into a soulless block of flats.

The Crown is on Station Street, outside New st station, which also hosts the Electric Cinema (which used to be the oldest running cinema in the UK (115 years). The Electric Cinema should be a trump card in Birmingham's cultural scene.

This street also has the Old Rep theatre on it. So, you've got a very rare situation of having a small street that has a theatre, cinema and music venue on it.

I agree with the plan floated in this petition to take a bigger picture regeneration of the street and potentially pedestrianise it, turning it into a cultural hub (with the right programming and marketing, it could become quite the thing).

Historically, the Birmingham authorities, in their short-termism, have been guilty of wiping out some of the city's best and most beautiful architectural gems. Some of decisions have been terrible, but the public seems to be asleep when they're made.

Villa have been a victim of such a mindset. The gothic church, formerly known as the Aston Villa Wesleyan Methodist Church, where Villa were effectively born was knocked down and replaced with a functional red brick new build (with a cheap plaque marking the site's significance to Villa).

A potential pilgrimage for all Villa fans...gone.

RIP Chris Nicholl. He was aged 77. The Villa centre-back was best remembered by Villans for his rocket finish, when captain, in the second reply of a marathon League Cup final against Everton in 1977, that Villa finally won 3-2. A year earlier, the Northern Ireland international also managed to score all four goals in Villa's 2-2 draw against Leicester City. Crazy but true. A big player for Villa in the 1970's with over 200 games for the club. HEITS #AVFC
