Alan’s first guest on today’s “The Drive”, is Richard Rawlings – American Entrepreneur and media personality. Star of Fast N’ Loud, Owner of the Gas Monkey Garage. He is selling 92 percent of his car collection. It’s a ” No reserve”, “Bring A Trailer” event. “Bring A Trailer” allows real buyers and real sellers to get together without all the bureaucracy. Vehicles such as the 1966 Fairlane 500, with a 390 in it. Black on Black. Thoughts on what’s going on in California? He’s not a believer in electric cars. What happens when you have all these electric car batteries laying around? Electric cars are not environmentally friendly. “What are you most proud of?”, asks Alan. Richard responds by saying that he is in a position in his life where he can take care of his dad with advanced Alzheimer’s.

BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason jumps on board for a quick ride as she announces that Ford is getting ready to introduce the 2023 Super Duty trucks, with a 6.8-liter V8 engine, that are naturally aspirated. BJ also sheds light on the new Volkswagen electric microbus, ID buzz, that has been receiving good reviews. It’s adorable and coming to America soon.

Next is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com., introduces the new 2023 Lexus RX 500 H, Its got an advanced hybrid powertrain and more intuitive technology. Karl interviewed William Ford Jr., executive chairman of Ford Motor Company and Jim Farley, President of Ford Motor Company, Both were great interviews. When asked their thoughts on where the auto industry is going, Jim says the world is expecting the car companies to go electric, to go along with the times, and we are doing just that. William Ford Jr., replies, “I think my great grandfather would say what took you so long.” A lot of it would be tough for him but would have been completely on board. William continues with the fact that this has been the most fun time in his career.

The 2023 Genesis G90 Luxury Sedan sets the mood, as the Bodacious AMG Mercedes E53 Class Cabriolet says it will outrun the sun | Episode #512

Ed Justice Jr. – Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO starts the show with Alan and the controversial news of California banning the sale of any internal combustion vehicles by the year 2035. Can they do that? Both men attended the Monterey Car Week and noticed a few changes this year. Hagerty put on an event called Motorlux which used to be McCalls Cars and Jets. The difference is better food, and more of it, more places to sit, and the airplanes are now placed outside. It’s the kick-off event of the week. Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the granddaddy of them all. People will fly in their cars from around the world and most are happy to just get a car on the lawn, feels like a winner to some.

Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com, drove into the event in a Lamborghini Huracan STO. Karl shares that the steering is razor sharp and precise, the suspension is communicative, and he enjoyed the ride. The price tag is $327,000. Hagerty has bought half of the enthusiast’s industries events. They discuss the rise in electric car pricing. Within a year, the average gas-powered went up 10.1 percent, electric went up 54 percent. Iseecars.com, all-electric by 2035, most people cannot afford these cars. Insanity!

BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. takes the hot seat as she shares her experience driving the new 2023 Genesis G90, Flagship Sedan. It’s got a 3.5 T E-Supercharger AWD. Clean and contemporary. It’s also got new technology called the “Mood curator”, which will create a mood for you using ambient lighting, massage seats, and scents. Premier sound system with 26 speakers., 3.5 v6 twin turbo with an electronic supercharger, 409 horsepower 405 # ft of torque. Eight-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel steer. Up next is, George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. George test drove an AMG Mercedes E53 class cabriolet. Twin turbo inline 6, 429 horsepower, with 389 # ft of torque. A refined performance car. $97k of an elegant piece of equipment, comfortable and stylish.

Brian Moody, the Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com, closes the show with Alan as they discuss other options California’s lawmakers could take into consideration with the ban of internal combustion vehicles by 2035. Brian says 50 percent sounds more ideal than 100 percent all-electric. Brian shares the top 10 vehicles that will accommodate your fur babies. Vehicles that have durable seats, low cargo floor, accessories, and tie-downs in the back are ideal. The Volvo xc60, Toyota sienna hybrid, tesla model 3, Subaru Outback, RAM pro master city wagon, Kia Soul, Jeep Wrangler, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Bronco Sport, and lastly, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. Join us on our next episode for more auto world news.
