🇨🇦 Dressing it up - Holiday looks
Here are a few outfits for the holiday events most of us attend:
🔹The Office Party
This is the occasion to show your style. 3 piece suits are just perfect for that occasion. The black accessories and leathers match the later time of the event.
🔹The Family Dinner
Meeting the family is no reason to slack off. Textures play very well here, as well as the burgundy tones which make the look more festive. Perfect for day or evening thanks to the black dotted tie.
🔹The Freezing day
Sometimes it is just too cold…warmth prevails over all else. A heavy turtleneck is the warmest piece of clothing you can wear.
🔹The Christmas Eve
Versatility is your best bet here; you can remove the jacket if needed and still look put together. Again, adding some burgundy to stay festive.
🔹The Holiday Brunch
Comfort is the name of the game, nothing better than a turtle neck and cashmere jacket. This is perfect to stay elegant even if you are still tired from the night before.

🇨🇦 Executive style - Jeans and Shirt
While this might not be a formal outfit, some situations do call for a much more casual ensemble. That does not mean it can"t look polished and put together.
Here are a few tricks I use to improve the overall look:
1️⃣ Rolling up the sleeves : without this, I feel the jacket missing. Rolling up the sleeves looks more.rugged and puts a bit of fabric near your biceps, which is typically aesthetically pleasing.
2️⃣ Wearing a watch. Since there isn't a lot going on, accessories will be noticed. A good watch really enhances the look; makes it intentional rather than just thrown on.
3️⃣ Adding a suede belt. The extra texture gives more visual interest to the ensemble, as well as a tiny bit of sophistication.
4️⃣ A firm collar. I cannot emphasize this part enough. To me, this is the deal-breaker, a flat collar just doesn't cut it. The collar gives the ensemble some semblance of structure.
How do you pull off the shirt/jean ensemble?

Business casual is a dress code that allows so many outfits it can be confusing.
Most variations involve a shirt, a jacket and odd trousers, which still allows for a ton of possibilitities.
Choosing a dark base like charcoal gray, navy blue, brown or deep olive lets you match the shirt, jacket and the accessories without much effort. Muted tones, especially earth ones lets you keep everything in harmony. Even a splash of color like violet can make the most cookie cutter outfit look elevated.
Instead of vibrant colors, I typically choose subdued shades like muted burgundy, forest green, or violet. These colors complement dark bases without being too flashy or taking away from the simplicity of the look.
What do you think, are dark muted bases in your outfit rotation?

Time for a new take on the week - executive style.
Instead of days, let's go for events in the life.of the executive
These are all events I frequently have in my calendar for which I often ponder on what to wear.
This topic is actually very personal to me
Let's discuss why :
▪️The Office Day
The most frequent one. If you are like me, you do work from home, so days at the office need proper celebration, without being too much.
▪️The Boardroom
This one is with the other executive, the board of directors. Sensitive topics, strategy and hard decisions are often on the menu. If there is one occasion for dressing up and look corporate - this is the one.
▪️The Interview
This might sound surprising, but as an executive, you can either be interviewed, interview someone or be part of that process for someone else. In all occasions, you want a neutral stance while still dressing for the occasion. In my opinion, the menswear uniform or navy excel in that context since they provide a mostly blank canvas.
▪️The Trade Show
This is the sale event, the one in which you want to be remembered (for the good reasons). I cannot begin to tell you how important looking professional can help you here. This is no time for peacocking, but neither is it the time for your boring suit.
▪️The Cocktail
This is for the charities, the museum events, the launch parties. You want to look your best but also not steal the show. You can show more personality here, have some fun. This is also a time for shinier ties, satin or statement pieces.
What do you wear to these events?
Is there one in particular you often hesitate on what is right to wear?
Leave a comment and tell me your story, can't wait to discuss.

Dappers gents!
Looking good in clothes should not be reserved for formal meetings.
Even for days off, you can improve your style quite a bit with a few key elements.
Your casual wardrobe should reflect thought and care as well!
Here are a few things I look for when I skip the jacket and go for an open neck shirt :
1️⃣ A stiff collar. This one allows a nice collar roll and helps the shirt keep the shape it was designed to have.
2️⃣ A contrasting belt. That change of color gives some visual interest to the look. Also, to see the belt, the shirt must be tucked in, which still gives a put together feel to the ensemble.
3️⃣ Open the first 2 buttons of the shirt. To me, if the shirt can hold it's shape that way, it is a sign of quality and proper fit. Also, this signals some #sprezzatura, which goes hand in hand with the vibe I'm trying to project with that look.
