JUST IN: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) continue to investigate the October 23 shooting of a 34-year-old man that occurred outside a convenience store on W. Davidson Avenue. Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect’s vehicle (a blue unknown make or model SUV) and are asking the public for any help in identifying the suspect who shot the victim, the owner of the vehicle, or the driver of the vehicle.
On October 23 at approximately noon, GPD officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a home on W. Davidson Avenue for the report of a shooting that just occurred. The victim was located at the home suffering from a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, detectives determined the shooting occurred outside of Soo’s Market located at 902 W. Davidson Avenue. After he was shot, the victim went to a nearby residence to call 9-1-1.
Anyone with information about this shooting, the suspect, or the suspect’s vehicle is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000. You may be eligible for a cash reward and callers may remain anonymous.
#BREAKING A Gaston County Police officer was involved in a shooting near the 4400 block of Stoney Oaks Drive in Gastonia. A source confirmed to Gaston Talks EXCLUSIVELY that a suspect was shot in the head after the suspect was holding someone else at gunpoint. After a K-9 track officers were lead to a car where they located the subject and shot. According to the source officers had previously been called out to the home today. Shots were fired at approximately 5:18pm. We’re told no officers were injured during this encounter.

Detectives Investigate Arson at Tony’s Ice Cream; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released below.
Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) are investigating an arson that occurred inside an occupied business this morning. Investigators are releasing surveillance video from the business and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
At approximately 5:45 this morning, the Gastonia Fire Department responded to a reported commercial business fire at Tony’s Ice Cream located at 604 E. Franklin Boulevard. Gastonia Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene to find nothing showing from the business. Firefighters made entry into the business and determined that a fire had occurred inside.
The Gastonia Fire Marshal’s Office conducted an origin and cause investigation and determined that the cause of the fire was incendiary in nature and contacted the Gastonia Police Department to begin a criminal investigation.
During the investigation, GPD detectives determined that the suspect broke a window to the business, threw a flammable accelerant inside the broken window, and fled the area. An employee of Tony’s Ice Cream who was working inside the business at the time of the arson was not injured.
This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this arson or this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000. Callers may remain anonymous.
