Every single person who joins your email list is an asset to your business. Period. And no, they donโt have to pay you a dime. Not today, not ever. Why? Because each of them knows 200 people, according to psychologists. The highest ROI? Itโs not your fancy marketing campaignsโit's referrals. Do you stay top of mind with your contacts? If you donโt, youโre leaving money on the table. Influence them with your expertise, and watch the referrals roll in. I discuss how we do this using email marketing in episode 292 of The MindShift Podcast available wherever you listen.
Got leads that were once "warm" and are now "cold?" Wonder if theyโve bought someone else's solution and if you should just delete them from your email database since they are a "dead lead" and your paying form them to just sit there? Don't until you use this super simple email strategy I have been using since 2003 from Dean Jackson. ๐ It's one of the first campaigns we run with a new client that has a large database of "old/dead leads." Mistake #1 you make is thinking everyone is ready to buy when they engage with your company. Mistake #2 you make is sending long, complex re-engagement sequences. Mistake #3 you make is not tying your messaging to the "reason" they entered your world in the first place. โ Let's fix this with Dean Jacksonโs 9-word email. Step 1: Craft an email with the subject line featuring only the recipient's first name. (This is the hardest part for marketers to wrap their heads around.) Step 2: Don't use "Hello first name" when you open the email. Step 3: You ask one simple questions (can be more than 9-words but you'll get the point below). "Are you still interested in getting more customers from social media? (11 words but only speaks to the lead we've already spoken to about social media advertising...Got it?) Step 4: Sign it with your first name only. That's it! โno titles, no social media handles, no website url...none of that. โ No paragraphs detailing your offer. โ No fancy email signatures. So, next time you think a lead is completely lost, send a 9-word email. Obviously, there are a few other rules and number of instances and variables to doing this effectively.
