Today marks the end of the journey of Coffee and Catastrophe with Brent and Gabi. In November 2017, Gabi and I came up with the concept of the show while hanging out at a diner. Deep, existential conversations were always at the forefront of our hangouts, so we thought to try this out on a podcast. 56 episodes later, it's time to end the show.
We decided it would be best to end the show before content started spiraling down and became too much of a chore to handle. COVID provided an excuse to take a break for awhile. Gabi and I came together and decided to record one final episode to cap it all off.
Speaking personally, the show was one of the best experiences of my life. I love creating and entertaining, so podcasting was the medium that merged both worlds. Little did I know that certain episodes would bring clarity and perspective to past events that have plagued my mind for years. Talking about them in an open forum was cathartic to say the least. Best of all, I was able to be my authentic self 100% of the time. I have no regrets.
I just want to personally thank everyone who supported the show and gave it a listen. Even if it was just one episode, it means a lot. I do not have the words to express how much it did.
I also want to thank my co-podcaster, Gabi Christine , for embarking on this journey with me. Seeing your growth throughout the course of 4 years has been an honor and a privilege. While we will still have our talks, I will miss creating with you, whether it be in a studio or jotting down ideas at a diner, you were the perfect partner in crime. You are a great friend and I look forward to seeing you living your best life and creating your own art. Also, thank you for reacting the proper way and cringing at most of the things I said on the show. I wish I can say I will join you in heaven in the afterlife when we pass on in 80 years, but I will try to send mail whenever I can (hopefully the letters wont burn up or become infested with ants and bees in transit).
For those of you who were thinking of starting your own show, do it. Modern technology has evolved to the point where content creation is as easy as it ever was. Diving in can be daunting, but it is well worth it in the end.
I'll leave you with this. When it comes to any creative endeavor...you will never create what you want if you wait for the spark. The spark, my friends, is waiting for YOU.
Take care of yourselves, and be good to each other.
