EPISODE 12 OUT NOW

Carel Pedre is a Haitian radio and TV personality, journalist, director, producer, and philanthropist.

He joins us on Been There, Seen That this week to discuss the social and political situation in Haiti at the moment and how the country came to be where it is today - with issues like gangs, corrupt leaders and common natural disasters. But as Carel makes very clear in this episode, Haiti is also a cultural hub for art, music and much more, and there are many things you can do to support local artists and learn more about Haiti.

Along with the rest of the world, we have been watching the tragic events unfolding in the Ukraine that have violated the rights of so many.

The first episode of our next season is out on Monday. While we have thought seriously about postponing the rest of our episodes in light of current events, we have decided against this. Our podcast serves as a platform for people across the world who live in or experience conflicts and crises to share their reality from the ground. Sadly, there are many such places that exist in our world today.

We stand with Ukrainians. We also stand with all those experiencing violence and unrest, those forced to flee their homes and country, and those not knowing what the future holds for them.

We look forward to sharing our guest with you tomorrow 🌎❤️

EPISODE 10 (our final ep for this season) is OUT NOW!

Bonheur Pacifique and Paul Rukesha from the Kigali Genocide Memorial (Aegis Trust) join us to discuss the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. This is one of our “special episodes” as this is not a live conflict, but a historical one where we learn about the reconciliation process.

We discuss the history and future of Rwanda and how it has evolved into a reconciled and united country. Bonheur and Paul are both survivors of this genocide and are experts on the before and after affects of 1994. There is a lot that the world can learn from Rwanda.

Introducing the first of our special episodes: a historical focus on the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Special episodes maintain our theme but through a different lens.

Many people may have heard about this genocide- one of the biggest of the 20th century.. but we want to help you understand how it happened, and how the country has reconciled and moved forward to become the ‘heart of Africa’. Our guests are both survivors, but also experts on the history and future of Rwanda
