Local songwriters are invited to an open mic soundoff at 7:30pm on 1st & 3rd Tuesdays in the Underground Theatre located in the lower level of CAC at 411 West Fourth Street in downtown Winston-Salem. Audience members will receive voting ballots with admission and will pick their favorite song for the evening based on multiple criteria. n mic. (Songwriters do have the option to have someone else perform their song if desired). Three rounds for the evening and three winners will be chosen in three different categories. Categories include:
Best Lyric
Best Melody
Best Song (overall)
One winner for each category gets a prize. Best song winner will move on to compete in a culminating future event in which the winner will receive a free demo recording or a weekend pass to the 2012 East Coast Songwriters Conference. Voting Rules:
All participants must be rated in each round or the ballot will be disqualified. Once a round has begun, no new ballots will be given out until the next round begins.
