African Affairs African Affairs is published on behalf of the Royal African Society. Also included are historical studies that illuminate current events in the continent.

It publishes articles on recent political, social and economic developments in sub-Saharan countries. African Affairs is the top-ranked Africanist and Area Studies journal as measured by impact factor. According to the 2010 ISI Journal Citation Reports, the journal is also ranked #20 out of 112 journals in Political Science.
