I had the most amazing conversation with Lauren Roxburgh about the power of fascia bodywork and somatic practices. She says, "Your thoughts are electric and your feelings are magnetic" and you attract what you're feeling. I love how she says "you don't need to turn on manifestation." We're always manifesting, and it's changing the inside that changes the outside, and working with the fascia is what affects your ability to be magnetic. Body integration work lies between the fitness world and the somatic world. There is healing energy pulsing through your body, and this electricity gets ignited through movement medicine. When you put pressure on the tissues with the foam roller, you’re not just working out, you’re using body intelligence to heal physically and emotionally. Lauren shares some of her favorite practices during our conversation.

Sharon Flynn founder-owner of The Fermentary is on the It Has To Be Me podcast this week. She talks about how when she was introduced to the magic of fermentation, her entire world opened up. "I knew about food, but I didn't know about that. I love that feeling when you go I thought I knew about the world, but I don't know anything. I'm starting from the beginning." She says "The beautiful thing about fermenting is that you can't see the transformation going on, but it's happening! It's like a little miracle in your life on your bench. You can hear the sound, and you're getting proof that it's happening, but you're not doing anything. It's happening by itself."

Sharon Flynn says to trust your intuition in the kitchen. "How do we have recipes? Before we learnt to read and write, they were passed down by grandmas and mothers." Get in there and experiment. Use your senses and smell and touch and taste the ingredients and go with your gut. In her classes, Sharon encourages people to put the recipe card away, and be present cooking with others and enjoying the experience of how food brings people together. You learn by doing. Look at the recipe card later. I had such a lovely conversation with Sharon about food and life, and how she started The Fermentary on the podcast this week.

Penny Hauck was snacking on candy to fuel her workouts, and it was causing inflammation and joint pain. "Coming off sugar, and focusing on natural sugar through fruits and vegetables was a game-changer for me. It made me feel so good. My joints were hurting because of the foods I was eating. I now know how important gut health is." When Penny did the 60-Day Reset and improved her gut health by taking in balanced nutrition, she was sleeping better, her athletic performance soared, and her recovery improved. "Eating better is an education from your insides. The biggest surprise for me was how loud my body got at saying: "Don't eat that!" It's amazing how in tune you get with what makes you feel good. I haven't had dairy since doing the 60-Day Reset because I know it doesn't make me feel good. I also haven't eaten a lot of pasta, not because I can't have it. I can have those foods whenever I want to. I just choose not to eat them all the time because they don't make my body feel good, and I want to feel good!" Stephanie Millar talks about the power of strategic eating and better gut health, and how she is feeling fantastic over 50! The biggest mistake most women make to lose weight is dieting. Most of the women who join my 60-Day Reset are undernourishing themselves. Not eating enough food. And, it causes blood sugar spikes and crashes. Regulating your blood sugar and having a constant stream of available nutrients is critical for better metabolic function. Dieting causes the further downregulation of key hormones like estrogen and progesterone, and they're already on rapid decline during menopause. Our dietitians recommend eating smaller meals and snack more regularly throughout the day to help optimize your hormones and support better body function. I'm talking about all of this and other menopause tips in episode 8. Listen on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, or on our website.
