Former Georgia inmate pushes for change inside state prisons
A former Georgia inmate who was stabbed multiple times on the first day of his 12-month sentence sat down with me this week to talk about his harrowing experience.
We spoke about what he feels needs to change in the prison system to cut down on the violence.

We're now just over 200 days into 2024, and there have already been at least 172 deaths inside Georgia prisons, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. Some of those deaths are being investigated as homicides.
The Georgia General Assembly has formed several committees to address the violence behind prison walls, but it's not just lawmakers who have taken notice of the issue. Students have, too.

It happened on Norwood Avenue on May 22.
I spoke to the victim's husband, a Chatham County firefighter, today. He's hoping for answers.
The United States is facing a growing shortage of veterinarians. This could mean longer appointment wait times for pet owners.
I spoke to a Wilmington Island veterinarian about what's contributing to the shortage:
"These whales need to be protected...They're down to 353 left in the ocean."
Another critically endangered North Atlantic right whale calf has been found dead in Georgia. This is the third reported right whale calf death so far this year.

HAVE YOU SEEN HIM? 81-year-old Martin Raffone of Okatie has been missing since Feb. 20. He has dementia.
You're looking at surveillance video of Raffone. According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, this video was taken at the Enmarket, located at Exit 8 at I-95, in Hardeeville. That was one of the last locations where he was spotted.
Raffone is believed to be driving a white 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan with South Carolina license plate KDP973.
