Two years ago today, I was wandering around Panama, wearing a shirt I got in Cambodia, with a bracelet so I could get back into the hostel where I was sleeping on a bunk bed in a room with a bunch of Israeli soldiers who just finished their service. Boy have things changed. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

We back!!! It was such an honor to be selected for the last year. And I was so disappointed when it was canceled bc of Covid. A year later, the film festival has returned (virtually) and my film will be featured.
Background: I picked up on this story as I was backpacking through . Someone told me about an American surfer who was attacked by a crocodile. I went to the beach where it happened and spoke with witnesses. I hired a local guide to take me into the backcountry looking for crocs. When I returned to the States, I met the victim, Jon Becker, in Boulder, Colorado, where he lives. He fought off the croc with his bare hands but lost his leg. Still, one year later, he returned to the same beach to surf again, this time on a prosthetic leg.
His story is one of survival and recovery and making the absolute best out of a bad situation.
I’ll have screening details when they’re announced. In the meantime, you can watch the film on my IGTV! .
