While you think it will be another sports film turns out this one is a tearjerker from the start. Zac Efron shines alongside an ensemble cast to tell the true tale of the Von Erich family one of the most notorious families in the history of wrestling. Whether you’re a lifetime fan or brand new to knowing anything about the sport this movie will have your attention from the very first clip.

Focusing on Kevin Von Erich then eldest brother and his family you follow along to see just how much greed and parental control can change the course of your life in the blink of an eye. We follow along as Kevin is not only navigating his own life but trying to take care of his entire family at the same time.

Fritz Von Erich the patriarch of the group is controlled by the need to always be right and in control. You can see his boys crack under the immense pressure he sets upon all of them. The “curse” set upon his family claims the lives of 5 out of his 6 boys leaving Kevin all alone. 3 boys out of the 6 commit su***de and one of them wants to please his father so badly he continues to wrestle even when he earns himself a ruptured organ.

Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White play two of the oldest Von Erich boys who prove that brotherhood is for life and even in the afterlife. This movie is for all audiences of a mature age whether you are wrestler lovers or just have immense love for your family.

While the movie leaves some details of the heartbreaking story of the Von Erich family out this films does a wonderful job telling the tale of this famous wrestling family and the rise to fame and the fall from the top.

Out of a 10 I would rate this film as the following:

Storyline: 9 out of 10

Color and Lighting: 8 out of 10

Acting: 9 out of 10

Audio: 9 out of 10

Writing: 10 out of 10

Likeness and Realism vs Fictionalized: 8 out of 10.

The final score combined for the rating of this film would be: 9 out of 10

Very worth the watch and I hope you enjoy!
