Dear friends, I’m excited to share that “Therapists” will have its Canadian premiere as an Official Selection of the 2023 Forest City Film Festival!
Once again, I am grateful to receive such love, recognition, and support from my favorite hometown festival. FCFF is one of the most filmmaker-friendly fests in existence and I can’t wait for “Therapists” to impact a Canadian audience.
WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 @10:30am
WHERE: The Wolf Performance Hall (251 Dundas St., London, Ontario)
CONGRATS again to the entire team and a massive THANK YOU to FCFF for this honour!🙏 For the cast, crew, friends, and community members who can make it — I can’t wait to see you there and celebrate with you! ❤️

STORY:
Shot on Kodak Super 16mm film, THERAPISTS tracks the personal stories of over a dozen characters as they find themselves experiencing both sides of the therapist-client relationship.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:
Everybody talks to somebody — even your therapist. This is the message that set our ambitious project in motion and one I believe rings especially true today.
I’ve made a fair few films over the years, but with this story I challenged myself with a unique, almost experimental concept that follows no less than 13(!) main characters.
I also challenged myself in a technical sense to move away from the comforts of digital cinema and go full analogue, recording a movie on film for the first time. At times it felt like bowling without bumpers, or rock climbing without a harness — especially when you factor in our extremely limited budget (film is expensive, there’s no two ways about it). But a timeless message deserves a timeless aesthetic.
Ultimately, this experience taught me a whole new level of focus, communication, and efficiency, as well as a renewed love and respect for the history and craft. I think it’s fitting that “Therapists” ended up being quite therapeutic itself, bringing good people (safely) together amidst some truly uncertain times and reminding us yet again that everyone — even your therapist — needs someone to talk to.
