Ah yes, the eternal question: Pantser, Plotter or Plantser? All of these approaches (and anything in between) are valid. Personally, I'm a plotter who then changes 70% of the plot after starting to write. I need that initial time plotting to build my characters, the conflict, and the motivation. I play around with ideas of how scenes could work and jot everything down on my trusty post-it notes. But as I write, I am inspired by new ideas, new connections between characters, etc.

I've been writing for years and years, with long breaks on and off. From short stories when I was a kid, to longer pieces like novellas as a teenager, to full manuscripts as an adult. There have been times in my life where writing has taken a backseat to life and I've gone a few years without writing. But lately, the last 6 years have been filled with consistent writing. How about you?

My writing routine is pretty basic. I pull out my laptop, plop down wherever feels good (outside in the summer, bed late at night, desk during the day like a civilized person), and write. How about you? Do you use music? A special writing spot? Something else?
