SEQ DRINKING WATER SUPPLY
All Brisbane residents, as well as those in Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Lockyer Valley are being urged to conserve water.

This extreme weather and heavy rain has impacted the Mt Crosby and North Pine Water Treatment Plants which both went offline in the early hours of this morning.

This is as a result of extreme rainfall and flooding washing soil and debris into the creeks and waterways, which flow into the treatment plants.

The cloudiness in the water has increased by up to 100 times the normal amount.

Seqwater crews have been working hard to get the treatment plants back online since early this morning and have been able to return North Pine. Mount Crosby is still offline.

The Gold Coast Desalination Plant is being used to help supplement supplies, while we work around the clock.

Any savings on water use over the next couple of days will greatly assist in managing water supply through this natural disaster.

Seqwater is working closely with its water supply partners, Urban Utilities, Unitywater and Logan City Council to keep people updated.

‼️FLOOD WARNING‼️

UPDATE: Updated mapping has now been published online here:https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/2022-02/20220226%20-%20Brisbane%20River%20Flood%20Forecast%20map.pdf

Potential impacts are highlighted in blue.

————————————————————————

I’ve just been updated on the latest Council flood modelling.

There’s concerns that overnight flows from the upper catchments into the Brisbane River will coincide with Sunday high tides (7am & 7pm) and/or Monday’s high tides (8am & 8pm).

This could result in water entering several thousand* properties in the orange highlighted areas including Brisbane city, Bulimba, Hamilton, Milton, New Farm, Newstead, Norman Park, Oxley, Rocklea, South Brisbane, St Lucia, Teneriffe, Toowong, West End, Windsor and Yeronga.

*Note: This figure is an estimate only and includes situations where floodwater enters a front or backyard, but does not necessarily enter the home.

Residents in low-lying areas should make sure they’re prepared. Stock up on sandbags at our depots, ensure your household has essentials and know when it’s time to leave.
