The original custom-built Strawberry Studios Helios board was completely refurbished by the Audities Foundation back in 2007 and lives in their studio in Calgary, Canada along with many other vintage gear and instruments. This is the famous board that lived in Eric Stewart's (10cc band) Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England where many artists created magic including Paul McCartney, and where the groundbreaking 10cc song "I'm Not in Love" was produced back in 1975. Stewart spent 3 weeks recording the band singing "ahhh" 16 times for each note of the chromatic scale, building up a "choir" of 48 voices for each note of the scale. Then creating tape loops for each note of the scale of about 12 feet in length on a 2-track machine & recording them back to separate tracks on the multi-track machine they were able to create their own custom Mellotron using the Helios mixing console as the keyboard by fading 3 or 4 of the individual voice tracks up & down to create the chords for the song. That's a lot of work and tape splicing for one song, but the results were amazing!
