Events this week: Friday 14th November there is a Quiz Night at the Llanyblodwel Institute (see poster); Saturday 15th November Trefonen Film Club are showing 'The Penguin Lessons' at Trefonen Village Hall at 7.30pm.
Advance notice: the following week at Trefonen Community Cafe (25th November) someone from St Oswald's Church will be bringing charity Christmas cards for sale.

Thanks to everyone who organised the Trefonen Fire Festival yesterday evening. Literally hundreds of people there, a wonderful fire and spectacular firework display enjoyed by adults and children alike.

Tomorrow's Remembrance service times are in your copy of the parish magazine. They are: 9.30am at All Saints Trefonen followed by 10.50 commemoration at the Memorial Cross; 10.15am at St Michael's Llanyblodwel.

Both community cafes are open this week - Trefonen on Tuesday 10-11.30am as usual, Cafe Blodwel on Wednesday, 10.30am - 12.30pm. Don't forget the Fire Festival on Friday 7th (see poster).

I've also been notified of Cantiones' concert at 3.30pm on Saturday 8th November at St Oswald's (see poster). Reflective music for the Remembrance weekend.

A thanksgiving service for the life of Miss Joan Parry will be held at All Saints Trefonen at 2 pm on Wednesday 5th November. A private cremation will take place at Wrexham beforehand. All are welcome to the Thanksgiving service.

All Saints Trefonen are giving us an opportunity to light a candle for someone we loved who has died and whom we want to remember. There is a table in the church this week with battery-powered candles for this purpose - do drop by and light one if you would like to (see poster for details). The church is open from 10 am to 4 pm daily.

Please note that this Sunday's services are INCORRECT in the magazine. The service at All Saints Trefonen begins at 10.00am, the service at St Michael's Llanyblodwel begins at 11.00am, not the other way round. Sincere apologies for this mistake.

The Community Cafe & WI fundraiser on Tuesday at Trefonen Village Hall raised a total of £294.45 for the Severn Hospice. Well done everyone.
Don't forget 'The Lady Poisoners' talk this Friday (17th October) at Trefonen Village Hall. And please note that the All Saints Trefonen service on Sunday is at 10.00am, not 11.00 as previously advertised.

Events for your diary this week include the showing of the film Mr Burton on Saturday 11th (NOT 25th as incorrectly stated in the October magazine), at Trefonen Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Next week we have the first Offa's D**e Support Group fundraising event, 'Lady Poisoners', on 17th, again at Trefonen Village Hall, 7 for 7.30pm. Trefonen's Community Cafe meets as usual on Tuesday 10-11.30am.

We have all been very sorry to learn that Joan Parry died last week. She has been a very good friend, and for many, many years the leading light of music in All Saints church. She inspired and encouraged all with whom she came into contact. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and Jill.

The Editor is on her holidays this week - in sunny Malta - so there will be no diary as such. However, please remember Cafe Blodwel's special fundraiser on 1st October, and All Saints' Trefonen's Harvest Service followed by lunch on Sunday 5th (see poster). Please note also that the Film Club is showing 'Mr Burton' on 11th October, not 25th as stated in the print magazine. Sincere apologies for this error - I'm not quite sure how communication failed on this one, but please change your diary entry now.
