#COVID19 is currently keeping many people in their homes without access to many services including mental health counseling. Thankfully, with modern technology online services allow many people to continue to work from home. This same technology can allow individuals the opportunity to receive mental health counseling via Tele-Mental Health counseling.
Under normal circumstances, providing tele-mental health counseling was restricted to certain online HIPAA compliant platforms, but thankfully, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is lifting this requirement until the National Public Health Emergency is lifted. If you are wanting to seek professional counseling you are able (during the National Public Health Emergency) to speak with a mental health counselor via a variety of different platforms (i.e. FaceTime, Zoom, Facebook Messenger, etc).
Please note that you will need to provide consent to your provider indicating that you are aware that the online platform that you agree to use may not be able to fully comply with HIPAA regulations.
Please read my Informed Consent file before you begin Tele-Mental Health Counseling with me. I will assume that you have read and agree to my Informed Consent as we begin our sessions.
Insurance
Many insurance companies will not reimburse you for tele-mental health counseling. You should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket. However, professional counselors are aware of this and will likely drastically reduce their normal hourly rate to make their services affordable for most. This is what I am doing.
My professional counseling services would normally be in the $115-$150 per hour range, but during the National Public Health Emergency my rate will be $35.00 per session.
Confidentiality
Every professional counselor must agree to their professional code of ethics to keep all client notes confidential, this applies to in office counseling as well as tele-mental health counseling.

Some mental health counselors may offer online booking so you can schedule your appointment at anytime at your connivence. I offer booking right from my page here.
About Me
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009, and I am also a board certified counselor. I am very familiar with providing online counseling and I have a youtube channel and a Podcast (I have not posted anything recent, but you can still access them if you want, just Google my name and you’ll find them).
My current job is working in a school district helping students of all ages cope with abuse, neglect and trauma. My school, as many if not all schools across America, is currently closed because of COVID-19. This leaves me with more availability to help as many people as I can.
If you have any questions feel free to message me from my page.
Thank you,
John Cordray, Board Certified Counselor
