This Friday night marks a couple of momentous occasions - it’s a 20 year anniversary for the crew up in the Bay and it’s also 20 years since the Dum Dum Project released Punjabi Five 0.

That one song followed by our album “Spiritual Bling” helped us - and - start to travel the map of the globe in a very new way. took the Foreign Beggar fam and ran as hard toward the goal line possible at that time too. Hip hop hadn’t tipped into the commercial space it enjoys as yet. We had been pushing since the 90s. All at one moment, all paths converged and what we have today began to take shape. What an honor it has been to have done the work and to still be present in pushing forward the evolution.

Join me and while we rock together at on Friday for SF’s first official Diwali party, starting at 5 PM. We have a few surprises planned, outside of that, it’s dancing shoes only at this affair ;)

I’ll embark upon a larger tour shortly, but for now, enjoy the vids that are a blast from the past and a flick of the fam from 2 decades ago ;)

The chemistry an artist is something that cannot be explained. Dilip wanted trumpets. Some days I wake up and only wish someone would ask for a horn section. I’m literally one of the few people alive who can snap their fingers and make it happen. With this song, I accept myself. Thanks Heather

I love the autobiographical work of my cousin - this is the first in a series of sketches we are working on around her spoken word work and I’m so happy and proud to post this here. My father even shot the BTS video ;)

We have a few more things coming and I’ll post them as daily journals as we finish them

I took a deep dive on the history of courting which led me to “courtly love”....which is an output of the story of Lancelot and Guinevere. A peculiar tale, which I had never heard of, called “Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart” surfaced and I absorbed it immediately.

I realized that this lore is the basis for how Disney created narratives, and in turn how the narratives of romance have played out over the annals of time. It is said that many bards used this narrative for their songs. I’m just one of the current bards.

Love is love. That’s today’s journal entry.

According to Wikipedia: A journaling file system is a file system that keeps track of changes not yet committed to the file system’s main part by recording the goal of such changes in a data structure known as a “journal”, which is usually a circular log. In the event of a system crash or power failure, such file systems can be brought back online more quickly with a lower likelihood of becoming corrupted.

When my therapist suggested that I daily journal, I thought of the above rather than keeping an actual diary. It’s interesting how the duality of language is wonderful and symbolic.

I write music daily, and it is brutally personal. It is my timekeeper. It is my way of validating my feelings and experiences. This is my attempt to journal. An ongoing set of recordings which may or may not be of any use to anyone ever. Sketches which may be half baked and smudged, paintings which may be abandoned on canvas. Or maybe the world sings along. Same difference. I got it out of me, and that was my part of the obligation to the universe.

This is me journaling. This exercise is a living and breathing album which may never end...or one day it will just stop. I may post daily. It may be weekly. I am told that the point is to dedicate time to journaling as often as possible. In the form of an ongoing album.

Happy Diwali!

Diwali is a chance for us all to get together and celebrate the victory of good over evil / light over the darkness. So I brought some super friends along to help do that.
This year I decided to drop a dancefloor banger with artists from around the world - .v.worldtravel and Christopher Bell.

To commemorate the end of the season, I’ll be co-headlining one of the stages at on November 15th in San Francisco.

Big love to x for the support and to all of you for listening along and being so kind. I do appreciate the DMs and the fact that so many of you have been supporting via Bandcamp.

I’m not that big on explaining things outside of the lyrics in a song. I’m in San Francisco for the beginning on Diwali. I have a single entitled “Diwali” dropping on Friday, and will be on stage 11/15 in SF for my first official Brooklyn Shanti co-headline since my mother passed.

I write music daily as a form of therapy. I also do actual therapy weekly as a form of inspiration. I was never good at journaling but an album of songs is awaiting me to record them every time I wake up, regardless of the time of day / night.

This is me journaling. About someone special who didn’t make it onto the flight to SF. Alongside the lyrical and vocal wisdom of a hero of mine. Who is a San Francisco legend.

2024 is off to a bang, as we wrapped Q4 in 2023 with a slew of new releases. The bands are literally back together and the label relaunch is happening on Feb 2nd. We're doing a music compilation collab release with Burton's NYC Flagship Store with a special event on 2/2 at their location, 69 Greene St, NYC. From noon to 6 PM, I'll man the decks with DJ Lokash and friends while we have some special guests stop by. We will also be screening my latest documentary in the space as well. Hope to see you there, more details as the day nears!
