They say that your wedding day is the best day of your life… and they’re not wrong!
4 days later and we’re still giddy with happiness and can’t stop re-living all of the special moments we shared with our family and friends 🥰

It was truly perfect from start to finish!

After 17 years together, it feels surreal to be calling each other “husband” and “wife”, but that’s what happens when you marry your best friend 💕

With our wedding just a few days away, we thought we’d share the story of how our relationship began… 🥰

17 years ago, at just 13 years old, we met at school and became good friends. It wasn’t long before we became inseparable, spending every possible moment together - both in and out of school. By 14 we made it official… And the rest is history 👩🏻👦🏻

In a few days time we will embark on our greatest adventure yet, by becoming husband and wife 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️

Excited is an understatement! 😁❤️

One of the first things we needed to do in our new house was install new kitchen appliances 🔧

Removing the old ones was fun (😬🤢), but we figured it out between us and they now live in the garage until we find time to get rid of them. Thankfully a Currys and AO order arrived promptly, so we’re all up and running again! 😁🍕

Today’s excitement… Karla brought a bird feeder! ☺️ We’re really keen to encourage as much wildlife into our little garden as possible, so this is a great start. 🐦‍⬛🌳

It’s been exactly one week since we moved into our new home, and after a hectic month, it’s finally time to celebrate! 🍾

And where better to do so than in our OWN GARDEN 😍 After being cooped up in a flat for 7 years, we cannot tell you how good this feels 🥰 Definitely a “pinch me” moment.

Now it’s time for pizza and ⚽️😁

Remember I gave my wheelchair 4 punctures recently, to test the efficacy of Slime Puncture Repair Sealant? 🤔

Well, in the interest of seeing how long the slime will hold for, I kept those tyres on… and I'm shocked to say that 2 weeks later I’m still rolling around on them, with no issues! 😮
It’s not something I'd do long term, but it’s great to know it actually works!

Whether it’s for your wheelchair or bicycle, it may be worth considering Slime for your own tyres 🛞

A poignant day as we said goodbye to our flat for the last time 🥲

It’s been our home for the past 7 years and has seen us through many of life’s adventures — From Covid lockdowns and various illnesses, to family dinners, games/movie nights, lazy Sunday afternoons, work accomplishments, christmasses and birthdays 💗

We’ve made so many memories here, but it’s time to move on and make some more 🥰

We did it! 🏡

We never thought our dreams of owning our own home would come true… but after 13 years of renting, a lot of hard work, determination, searching, planning and keeping everything crossed… here we are! 🔑

It’ll be a bit of an ongoing project while we make modifications (for both access and aesthetics), but we’re here and we can’t wait to make it our own 🥰

A few weeks ago we tried making Pimm’s together. We’re planning to serve this for the drinks reception at our wedding, so thought it would be a good idea to try it! 🥰☀️

This week we collected Karla’s engagement ring from the jewellers, it’s white gold and needed to be recoated to match her wedding ring ready for August! 💍

She’s very happy to get it back, and it’s nice to have it looking pristine again! ☺️👰‍♀️❤️

After a year of testing the differences between solid and inflated wheelchair tyres, I'm ready to share my findings! 🛞

It's been an interesting experiment, which included something I never thought l'd do - Giving myself 4 punctures... On purpose 😱

So great to give a presentation to Caravan and Motorhome Club staff today, all about wheelchair accessible caravanning ☺️

We love opportunities like this — Where we can share our experiences, show that having a disability doesn’t have to stop you travelling, and advise others on how to help people like us!

It’s been quite a journey to get here, but the stars have aligned and we’re absolutely thrilled to be picking up the keys soon! 🔑

Who here loves the smell of freshly baked bread? 🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️🍞

This is an extra special loaf, as we made it with flour milled at National Trust Dunster Watermill, which we picked up on our recent Somerset trip 🥰

It smells amazing, but the proof will be in the eating 😁

After last visiting our wedding venue in the depths of winter, it was so nice to see it in the sunshine! ☀️💒

With the date edging closer, we had some final details to go over, and met with the loveliest venue stylist who is going to make it look even more fabulous 😍

With the wedding plans coming along nicely, we’ve started to think about our honeymoon 😍 But we can’t decide what to do…

We’d love to hear your recommendations! ☺️

Either campsites or self-catering accommodation (lodges, cabins, bungalows etc) would be great — UK or mainland Europe ☀️🌲 Preferably somewhere we can relax and switch off, but have things we can explore nearby if we fancy it.

Welcome to a little segment I like to call… Cooking With Karla! 😆👩🏻‍🍳

After his last baking lesson, Stephen was keen to try it again — This time we made these ADORABLE miniature Victoria Sponges 🍰

My noodle arms may not be able to lift anything heavier than a teaspoon, but baking theory has always been an interest of mine. It’s great fun to be sharing my love of it with Stephen, and see how excited he gets when he can eat his creations 😂🥰

Heading back inland, we stopped off at Exebridge Lakeside Caravan and Motorhome Club site ☺️

The perfect location for an evening drive across the moors. We drove out and stopped in a car park by Dunkery Beacon – The highest point on Exmoor, and in the whole of Somerset! 🌳🐴

Even with the cloud and drizzle, we had some amazing views! 😍

While staying at Willingcott Caravan and Motorhome Club site, we were so excited to find out it has direct access onto the Tarka Trail! 😁

It’s not very often that a path is smooth enough for me to comfortably go full speed, but this National Cycle Network route is PERFECT for wheelchairs 😍👩🏻‍🦼

What started as a short stroll, ended up being almost 5 miles of wild flowers, butterflies, streams, countryside and sea views… and ended with a reservoir! 🦋🌸

When you’re camping on the west coast, it’d be rude to miss an ocean sunset 🌅

Last night the weather was just right, so we dashed down to Woolacombe Beach to watch the sun go down 🥰

Such a perfect evening! 😍❤️

What a unique location! 😍

Did you know that Ilfracombe has historic beaches that are exclusively accessed by tunnels hand carved into the cliff?! 🏖️

Tunnels Beaches is a fascinating place to visit, dating back to 1823, when the two beaches were segregated by gender. How different the world was back then!

We particularly enjoyed reading about the history, and the newspaper clippings of stories from long ago 🥰

👩🏻‍🦼 Access information: The tunnels are very easily accessible in a wheelchair. There are no steps, only a gentle slope down to the beach. The beach itself is shingle and not suitable for most wheelchairs. I enjoyed the views from the concrete ramp at the top of the beach though — And it was overall a very interesting experience!
