On our final evening in Belgium, we took a little drive over to Ypres for The Last Post Ceremony — Something we’ve heard lots about and have wanted to witness for a long time ☺️

Situated at the grand Menin Gate, this daily event honours the fallen soldiers from the First World War.

It was such a moving tribute and we feel privileged to have experienced it ❤️

Aaaand we’re back in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We left Camping Klein Strand this morning after a short but (very 🍫) sweet trip to Belgium, to experience our first continental Christmas market… And we had the BEST time!

Another beautiful day in Bruges 😍

This afternoon we discovered the “Lake of Love”, with its festive bar and floating ice rink! 🎄⛸️

Of course, while we were there we had to grab a hot chocolate and the Dutch delicacy of frites with mayonnaise 😋

Medieval buildings, cobbled streets, horse and carts, and some of the best window displays we’ve ever seen… Bruges Christmas Market is magical! 😍

We had the BEST time wandering around, exploring the shops and stalls, and soaking up the festivities 🎄

Bruges has such a cosy and relaxed feel to it, and is a city that we naturally felt at home in 🥰

When in Belgium… 🇧🇪

You HAVE to visit the largest Belgian chocolate museum in the world — Chocolate Nation 🍫

This was a truly immersive experience, with the sights, sounds, scents and (best of all) tastes, taking us on a delicious journey from the cocoa tree to the famous Belgian chocolate we know and love 🤤

It’s fair to say that we left with a bag full of goodies — Mostly Christmas gifts, but a few treats for ourselves too 😋

👩🏻‍🦼Accessibility note: It’s a large museum, spanning numerous floors, but there are lifts to each level and there’s not a single part I missed out on. There are also accessible toilets available, although the one I used was a little on the small side. Overall rating – Very good!

Who knew Belgium had such beautiful beaches? 😍

The cobwebs were well and truly blown off today, as we explored the quaint, coastal town of De Haan. There was barely a soul around and it felt great to get a dose of (very!) fresh air after a couple of days travelling 🚐

After a cosy night at the Black Horse Farm Caravan and Motorhome Club site, we’ve just boarded LeShuttle 🚇

A short drive through France, and we’ll soon arrive at our destination — Bruges in Belgium! 🇧🇪

We’ve spent this weekend getting the caravan ship shape ahead of our upcoming trip, where we’ll be kick-starting the festive season with a hop across the Channel to experience our first European Christmas market! 🇧🇪

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for all of your lovely messages after the sad loss of Stephen’s Grandma 🕊️ Your kind words really mean a lot to us 💗

It’s been a difficult few weeks, and while we’ve been focussing on time with family, we have also begun putting plans together for a little festive escape happening very soon… And we’re pleased to say that we’ll be heading overseas! 🇧🇪🎄

It’s been a quiet time here recently, as we sadly lost Stephen’s wonderful Grandma.

She was the most glamorous, classy lady, with a wicked sense of humour and a talent for classic afternoon teas. Her zest for life was unrivalled, and you (quite literally!) only had to spend 5 minutes in her company to absolutely adore her.

Grandma was truly the life and soul of the family, and it won’t be the same without her 🖤
