Been a tough 3rd week of summer, Amy went down with flu on Saturday evening. I was back to work Monday so we’ve both had to struggle through this week. Very little sleep, aching bodies coughs but think lwere sort of on the mend. A little walk this afternoon has helped. George constantly wants to do activities whilst Matthew seems intent on teasing etc . On top of George’s hospital appointment shambles yesterday it’s been a week 💪🏾 what we need is a REAL 😂 Heads up and go again Adam
They wonder why the NHS is on its knees, their own incompetence that’s why! What’s the point Derriford Autism Service of making an appointment for a severely autistic person on level 12 cypod Urology and when you turn up 5 mins early after the parking hassle to be told “oh the doctor he was supposed to see is on leave so we’re late , has another two children to see, he will be here in 10 mins and we can let you know how long LATE it will be “ 30 mins later …….. he’s not here yet , we can’t give you a wait time” we’re not sure why nobody called you before hand etc etc etc ! Absolutely shambles and now on is to repeat the process al over which the same will probably happen again! Absolutely fuming 😡! Why would a doctors secretary make appointments when he’s on holiday ? No answer obviously , adam
My little guy has reached the end of his patience. I have been so unwell with flu, I haven't left the sofa, let alone the house since Sunday. Adams back to work, which means the boys haven't been out for a few days and I think George is really starting to get cabin fever. Never an ideal time as a mum to be poorly, let alone the summer holidays when your little man wants constant outings and fun 🥵

So, I'm 40 today. Meh
I was hoping for a good day out with the boys, this didn't happen.
Constant fighting, arguing, screaming, not listening to anything we say. At one point I was sat with Matthew just begging him to give Adam and I one day, just one day of behaviour. He just didn't listen.
Nearly 5 hours we spent at Trethorne, and we've arrived home bruised and broken (and that's just me and Adam).
I know as you get older and have your kids, birthdays aren't about you anymore, but today has literally sucked arse.
Adam really tried to make today a good day, and I'm so grateful for that, but if the boys don't want to play ball, no amount of money, bribing, death slides, soft play and ice cream will change it.
Looking forward to bedtime 💜

I really feel for George at times like these, when he's losing his mind and is exploding. We are desperate for a blue space for not only Georges sake, but the rest of us too. It breaks my heart when he can't regulate his emotions, and then starts self harming because he doesn't have a place to blow off steam. Plymouth Council have to be the most painfully slow professionals I've ever encountered. We haven't even completed our first full week of summer holidays and he's just all over the place 😪
Don’t know why I thought waking to and back for a picnic in 26.c heat was a good idea but turned out ok, just getting George to leave and Matthew trying to befriend everyone family doing the same the only issue. Matthew is very friendly but doesn’t really understand not everyone wants him hovering over them whilst they picnic etc, I know he’s only being friendly but doesn’t really get it when I say come here leave them alone because two mins later he’s back again 🤣

Went to a different pool today for a wet n wild session at got to say it was great , a bit tricky with the twins as I can’t be in two spots at one time so keeping my eye on Matthew whilst George wants to go up and down the slide and make sure Matthew’s safe was a challenge but with help from the lifeguards whose all seemed very happy to help and keep George waiting for me to get to the exit of the slide was brilliant. Staff all seemed understanding of autism which helped immensely. Had to do it whilst suffering with raging toothache didn’t help but I couldn’t let them down as it was already booked! Will definitely go here again just have to make sure the slide is in use! 💪🏾

It doesn't take long for things to descend into chaos in the Cannan household and today was no exception. George was losing it over a sonic teddy (which we didn't have) so again starts the battle of trying to get him to forget. But he doesn't, so do you give in for everyone's sake or hold tight on the battle. Yes, I gave in. I'm trying to think of Adam's sake because he's on nights, Matthews sake so he doesn't get battered, the house's sake.......you get my drift. So anyway, by the time I'd replaced the ps4 remote George had smashed to bits, bought Matthew some vbucks to even up the playing field, and payed £25 for this monstrosity, I was £100 lighter. Yay Saturday!
Well done George! A class trip to the aquarium and he did amazing. He went round 5 times, had an ice cream in the cafe and got a toy from the gift shop. So proud of him, and his amazing ta's who I'm sure slept well after all the running around 🏃♀️
A quick sports day for George. We arrived on the field to George already doing hurdles, and as soon as he spotted us, it was 'time to go home'. But, we managed to get every activity done, with some running around and raiding the goodies tent in between. Then home to enjoy his new andy magazine. What a day, and Georges ta's deserve a rest, lol
When in doubt, communicate. That's my lesson for today. My previous post upset people which wasn't my intention, but after speaking to members of staff at Georges school, there are always positives. And September looks more positive than I first thought. My apologies to anyone I upset ❤️
