A video has surfaced showing internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the city of Afrin – Efrîn refusing to vacate homes they are occupying, which belong to original Kurdish residents of the area. The IDPs also called for the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from their areas of control, despite an agreement reached between the new Syrian government and the SDF.The man featured in the video had previously confronted Kurdish judge “Nerwaz” for enforcing court rulings that mandate the return of homes to their rightful owners from Afrin.

The video shows that the property was stripped of doors, furniture, and even trees from the surrounding area.According to local sources, the house had been occupied in recent years by a displaced individual from Homs Governorate. The property was reportedly emptied before the occupant’s departure. Similar incidents have been repeatedly reported, particularly affecting homes belonging to original residents returning to the region.

Assault and Motorcycle Theft Reported in Central Afrin

Mohammad Jamil Allo, a resident of Keferdelê Jêrîn village in the Jindires subdistrict of Afrin, was reportedly assaulted and robbed by unidentified individuals two days ago in the Mazout Street area of central Afrin (Efrîn).

According to available information, the attackers ambushed him at night, physically assaulted him, and stole his motorcycle.

The victim has filed an official complaint at the General Security Center in Afrin. Authorities have yet to announce any measures taken to pursue the perpetrators.

Displaced Persons Assault Kurdish Family in Endarê Farmland, Afrin Countryside

On April 6, 2025, a Kurdish family from the village of Qurzêlê Cûmê was subjected to a violent assault while working in a bean field in the village of Endarê (Ayn Dara), located in the Afrin countryside. The attack was carried out by a group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) led by a man identified as Abu Faisal Al-Omari, accompanied by his son Faisal and his brother Hammouda.

According to local sources who spoke to Afrin Now, the assailants entered the farmland in a Honda vehicle and caused damage to the crops. When the landowner, Akid Mohammed Hamo, objected, the situation escalated into a physical attack involving sticks and stones. The victims included Akid, his brother Ali Mohammed Hamo (of the Alkulek family), and two female workers, identified as Heba and Shar.

Akid Mohammed Hamo was taken to a hospital for treatment. The family has called on local authorities to hold the attackers accountable and prevent similar incidents.

The situation was defused after neighbors intervened upon hearing screams, prompting the man to flee the scene.Two days later, while the family was visiting relatives, burglars broke into the home, reportedly using the key again, and stole most of the household items, including furniture, appliances, and personal belongings. Military Withdrawal Begins from Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Under Agreement with New Syrian Government

The implementation of Article 6 of the agreement between the local councils of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh and the new Syrian government began today, providing for the withdrawal of military forces from both neighborhoods in Aleppo.

Young Man from Mabeta Missing for Four Months After Being Detained in Maranaz

The family of Maher Mustafa Mustafa, born on July 17, 2001, and originally from Mabeta, rural Afrin, reported that they lost contact with him on December 3, 2024, after he was detained by fighters affiliated with the Sham Front (Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya) at a checkpoint in Maranaz, while traveling from Aleppo to Afrin.

According to his family, Maher had defected from the former Syrian regime about a year and four months ago. As a result, he was arrested by regime forces and imprisoned in Qaboun Prison in Damascus, before his family paid a sum of money to secure his release.

After his release, Maher relocated to Aleppo and later attempted to reach Afrin, but he was stopped at the Maranaz checkpoint. Since then, all communication with him has been lost. His family stated that their last contact with him was on December 3, 2024, the same day he was detained.

The family also revealed that they paid $2,000 to individuals who promised to secure his release, but their efforts yielded no results. To this day, his whereabouts remain unknown.

“Hamzat Division” Intensifies Pressure on Residents in Qestelê Miqdêd and Şerqiya, Rural Afrin

Local sources informed Afrin Now that the Hamzat Division, led by a commander known as Abu Kasir and stationed in the villages of Qestelê Miqdêd and Şerqiya in Bulbul district, rural Afrin, has been escalating pressure on residents, demanding payments in exchange for reclaiming their properties.

According to reports, Hamzat fighters have been conducting nighttime patrols on motorcycles inside the villages, allegedly under the pretext of pursuing thieves. However, these activities have caused widespread fear and tension among locals. Additionally, some residents have been accused of throwing stones at the faction’s headquarters at night, an allegation that many believe is being used as a pretext for further harassment.

Sources also indicated that many residents are reluctant to file complaints out of fear of retaliatory actions, urging the General Security Forces in Bulbul district center to intervene and put an end to these violations.
