Mosque Opens in Afrin’s Mamala Village Under Sponsorship of Turkey’s Diyanet, Armed Men Present
A new mosque named “Ali Ibn Abi Talib” was inaugurated in the village of Mamala – Memalê, located in the Rajo subdistrict of Afrin, under the sponsorship of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The ceremony was attended by a number of armed individuals.
The event is part of a broader wave of religious activities sponsored by Turkish institutions in the region—raising growing questions about Diyanet’s role in reinforcing Turkish influence across Afrin since 2018.
