1565 Today.com 1565Today.com is St. Augustine, Florida’s newest online magazine. He claimed Florida for the King of Spain and launched St.

The first part of its name reflects the birth year of America’s oldest city, when Spain's Pedro Menendez de Aviles stepped ashore on September 8, 1565. Augustine as Spain's New World outpost, soon to enjoy a rich and sometimes tumultuous history. We also added the word “Today” to reflect the genuine vitality here: the intellectual contributions of Flagler College and its young students who come fr

om all over the US and indeed the world; the city's vibrant art community; the excitement and beauty of our stunning beaches; and the cosmopolitan flair found in our restaurants and bars. The publisher and managing editor is Brian Nelson, a former CNN journalist, a legal resident since January 2009 and a very frequent visitor and resident-in-waiting since 1991.
