A deadly t*rror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district has drawn global attention. Nine people were killed and 41 injured when t*rrorists opened fire on the 53-seater bus traveling from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a gorge near Teryath village on Sunday evening.

A large-scale search operation has been initiated to locate the terrorists responsible for an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 33 others on Sunday evening. Security in the area has been heightened, and sources from the Home Ministry have informed India Today that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been assigned to investigate the attack.

The incident occurred as the bus was returning from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra, the base camp for the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Terrorists, concealed in the nearby forest, ambushed the vehicle and opened fire. The bus driver was struck by a bullet, lost control, and the vehicle subsequently plunged into a gorge.

Drones are being deployed to survey the dense vegetation around the attack site as part of the search operation. Additionally, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has joined the efforts.

According to authorities, some of the victims have been identified, as reported by news agency PTI. Most of the victims were from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The bus driver, Vijay Kumar from Dasanoo Rajbagh village, and the conductor, Arun Kumar from Kandera village in Katra, both in Reasi, were among those killed in the terror attack.

On Thursday, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was reportedly slapped by a CISF personnel at Chandigarh airport. Following the incident, Ranaut released a statement assuring her safety. In response, renowned music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani commented on the incident through his Instagram Stories, expressing his willingness to support the CISF personnel involved.

In his Instagram Stories, Vishal posted a video report of the incident and captioned it, “I do not ever support violence, but I absolutely understand the need of this personnel’s anger. If any action is taken against her by the CISF, I will ensure that she has a job waiting for her should she choose to accept it. Jai Hind. Jai Jawaan. Jai Kisaan.”

The CISF constable involved was identified as Kulwinder Kaur. According to the Hindustan Times, following the incident, she was detained and subsequently suspended after Kangana Ranaut filed a complaint with CISF officials upon her arrival at Indira Gandhi airport.Vishal Dadlani posted a new series of Instagram Stories following the report of Kaur’s suspension. He wrote, “Those on Dungana’s side, if she had said your Mother is ‘available in 100 Rupees’ what would you do?” In another story, he added, “Again if Ms. Kaur is removed from duty someone get her in touch with me and I will ensure she is gainfully employed.”

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram Stories to criticize the industry’s silence on the incident. She wrote, “All eyes on Rafah Gang this can happen to you or your children as well…When you celebrate a terror attack on someone be ready for the day it comes back to you as well.”

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed food business operators (FBOs) to immediately stop claiming 100% fruit juice in their advertisements and on packaging labels.FBOs have been given until 1 September, 2024, to use up their existing packaging materials. The statement mentioned, “It has come to the attention of FSSAI that several FBOs have been inaccurately marketing various types of reconstituted fruit juices by claiming them to be 100 per cent fruit juices.After a thorough review, FSSAI has determined that the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018, do not permit such claims.

“Such claims are misleading, particularly under conditions where the major ingredient of the fruit juice is water and the primary ingredient, for which the claim is made, is present only in limited concentrations, or when the fruit juice is reconstituted using water and fruit concentrates or pulp,” FSSAI pointed outFood businesses must adhere to the fruit juice standards outlined in section 2.3.6 of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulation, 2011.

The statement said, “This regulation states that products covered by this standard must be labelled in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020.”In the ingredient list, any juice made from concentrate must have the word “reconstituted” placed next to its name.The regulator brought out,”Additionally, if added nutritive sweeteners exceed 15 gm/kg, the product must be labelled as ‘Sweetened juice’.”

In a bizarre theft incident in Indira Nagar, Lucknow, a thief broke into the house of Dr. Sunil Pandey, stealing cash and jewelry worth around 2 million rupees. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk and milk products under the Amul brand, has announced a price increase of Rs 2 per litre for fresh milk, effective June 3, 2024, across all markets in the country. With this hike, Amul Gold and Amul Taaza will cost Rs 2 more per litre, Amul Buffalo Milk will rise by Rs 3 per litre, and other variants will see a Rs 1 per litre increase.

The federation attributes the price hike to rising input costs. With the revision, Amul Buffalo Milk will cost Rs 73 per litre and Cow Milk Rs 58 per litre.

In a statement, GCMMF explained, “This price hike is due to the increase in the overall cost of operation and production of milk. Our member unions have also increased farmers’ milk procurement prices by approximately 6-8% over the last year.” They noted that Amul had not increased fresh milk pouch prices in major markets since February 2023. According to GCMMF, Amul passes on almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers to milk producers. “The price revision will help sustain remunerative milk prices for our producers and encourage higher milk production.”

The Navi Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who were allegedly planning an attack on superstar Salman Khan’s car in Panvel, ANI reported. According to the report, the gang intended to procure weapons from a Pakistani arms supplier. An FIR has been filed against over 17 individuals, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra, and Goldy Brar. The police are continuing their investigation.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Dhananjay alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna, and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan, police officials stated. This development follows an incident on April 14, when two men on a bike fired multiple rounds outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra. The duo, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were later arrested in Gujarat. Another suspect, Anuj Thapan, was arrested on April 26 in Punjab along with another individual. Thapan died on May 1 inside a lock-up toilet at the Mumbai police’s crime branch.
