FYI, I’m fine with this as long as RDJ goes beyond “What if Tony Stark was evil?” with his performance. Also fine with Marvel reverting back to the Russo Brothers—they can be trusted to oversee big-budget, ensemble spectacles when it comes to the MCU.

Reviving United Artists was a mission too impossible for Tom Cruise in the late 2000s. But Scott Stuber should fare better given Amazon’s deep pockets. Curious, though, whether the plan is to treat UA as Amazon MGM’s Searchlight or Focus Features. We certainly need more distributors of theatrical low- to mid-budget prestige films.

Let me get this straight. Marvel screened just 40 minutes of D&W for junket press, presumably to avoid spoilers from leaking before release, only to publicly reveal most of the film’s surprises after its SDCC screening, the same night it opened in theaters. Boggles the mind Universal did not put TWISTER back in theaters to tee up TWISTERS. Wasted opportunity—a bunch of people raised on cable/VHS/DVD would have loved to see that cow fly on the big screen for the first time.

As Twisters rips through theaters and updates a nearly 30-year-old franchise, the original movie's creator is reflecting on how the movie got made.

Not a surprise. And makes sense. Always seemed like too quick a turnaround between films. Now HORIZON can enjoy its natural home entertainment cycle, allowing people to discover the film on their own terms, which hopefully will expand the theatrical audience for CHAPTER 2.

Costner's Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema made the decision in order to give audiences more time to discover the initial movie before the sequel.
