It’s Day 1 of principal photography for Guacamania! This long awaited day has been in the making for years now, so we had to make sure we prepared correctly to make every setup count. With a vicious prep week, an unbeatable team, and an absurd amount of kimchi, we are ready to tackle these next three days and get this short film shot!

We've had over 500 submissions for these 4 roles and had an abundant amount of talent come audition for us. We are proud to have selected, who we think, is the best suited for each of these characters in this quirky comedy short film!

Principal photography begins May 12th! We are SO excited!!! 🥳

Wow wow wow! We are SO thrilled to have received the official green light from Seed & Spark. This means that we have raised enough pledges in our campaign so now all of your contributions will go towards the project and we can proceed onto pre-production. We could not have done this without the love and support of our fellow peers, family, friends, and newcomers to the Eboshi Revolution.

We have 3 days left of our crowdfunding campaign, and right now we are just under $1000 away from receiving a green light from Seed and Spark for the money we have raised so far.

That means, in order to be safe, we have to receive enough funds in the right amount of time, we have to raise $333.33 per day, which is also $13.888 per hour, or $0.23148 per minute, or even $0.003858 per second…. That feels doable!

It’s time for us to introduce you to another one of the hard-working and talented individuals who will be bringing Guacamania! to life! Naomi Smith is a long time friend of Eboshi, established food/beverage stylist and art director, and Guacamania!’s production designer! 🥑

With over a decade of experience, Naomi has a passion for creating visually stunning images for the commercial and film industry. Her dedication to perfecting the art of food styling is matched only by her love for exploring new and creative ideas. Her attention to detail and understanding of how to make things look best on camera are only amplified by her eagerness to continue learning new skills in the art world.

Naomi has worked with us on a number of our projects over the years, and we’re so thrilled that she’ll be joining us for Guacamania! As you may have guessed, it’s a food-heavy short film, so we can’t wait to see her expertise in action! We're here to deliver on our first milestone reward for the crowdfunding campaign for Guacamania! As promised, we bring you Andrew's very special, super controversial, Atlanta-famous guacamole!

Andrew is very confident that his guacamole is the best you'll ever have, and he's ready to share the secret of that recipe with you all as a thank you for all your contributions and support! You can see the recipe typed out below in this post, or stay tuned for a special video tomorrow of Andrew putting on his chef's hat to walk you through it himself.

INGREDIENTS:
2 avocados
1 red bell pepper
1 small red onion
1 jalapeno
1 lime
1 bunch of cilantro
salt

STEPS:
1. Wash your produce!
2. Cut your avocados in half and scoop them into a medium mixing bowl. Mash them with a WHISK (very important) until they are the desired consistency.
3. Finely dice your red bell pepper and red onion. Add to the bowl!
3. Mince half your jalapeńo (or use the whole thing if you like the spice!). Add to the bowl!
4. Cut your lime and squeeze the juice of one half into the bowl.
5. Pick out any wilted pieces of cilantro. Mince about half the bunch, stems included. Add to the bowl!
6. Add a little salt to taste!
7. Try your guacamole with a corn tortilla chip, and add more jalapeńo, lime, salt, or cilantro to taste!
8. Share with your friends and family and have them ooo and awww over the best guacamole they've ever had!

As you may have guessed, Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim is a huge inspiration for us on our mission to create films that blend the thrilling visual elements of anime with the unique challenges of shooting live action. The fact that this ground-breaking movie was able to succeed the way it did in becoming a cult classic that people are still wanting to not only watch, but be a part of creatively, 13 years later is very telling to us.

We think a wider range of audiences aren't just ready for wacky, adventurous, and unique--it's what they want. It's what YOU want. And we're bringing it to you with Guacamania! Wow, wow, wow! We are officially one week into our crowdfunding campaign for our upcoming short film, Guacamania! We're so grateful for the support you have all shown us so far. To be able to hit 25% of our goal in just a week makes us feel so blessed.

Landon Kovalick is one of two halves of S2S and is a super talented DP that has framed Andrew's last short - A Sparrow Cries At Night. Constantly chasing projects that pique his interest, he never. stops. working. Hence why his instagram handle is so aptly named - cause ya boy is under-rested XD.

Anyways, instead of doing the usual post about his DP work we want to talk about something else. What many people don't know about Landon is that he's actually a Creative Producer! *record scratch, audience gasp, someone coughs in the distance*

Landon has always had too big of a appetite to JUST be a Cinematographer. Adding Creative Producing to his repertoire really rounds out his appetite. Yum!

Another fun fact, finding a normal photo of Landon is an extreme rarity! The man is constantly moving around working that he hardly has time to stop for a photo op. Here are some selects we have scrounged through instagram to procure for you, at least a general idea of what he looks like...

All jokes aside, he's a fantastic filmmaker to have on your roster that has a finely tuned radar for what makes a good project GREAT. We thankful for you homie. 🙇‍♂️

Chances are, if you know Eboshi Platinum, you already know Andrew J. Lee, the one-of-a-kind director and writer behind Guacamania! We know we don't have to tell you just how charming, charistmatic, and influential Andrew can be if you've ever had the opportunity to work with him on set as he wears one of his many hats: PA, AD, Producer, Gaffer, Grip, etc. just to name a few--but we're going to do it anyway. It's remarkably easy to brag about a creative like Andrew, who has always been a rare "do what must be done" creative. The type who always makes it to set prepared, never fails to have the most memorable and pleasant sets to work on, and somehow never loses his cool. And most importantly, the type who will never ask you to do something he would not do himself a million times over.

Andrew has been writing and directing short films since 2017, and is currently on a roll toward his first feature film (you'll want to stay tuned to see what that's about!). He's an avid lover of movies and anime, looking up to filmmakers with a distinct flavor to their art, such as Guillermo Del Toro, Hayao Miyazaki, and B**g Joon-ho, as he hones in on his own unique form of story-telling.

Andrew's films range from serious to bizarre, with a common theme of precise camera work, unusual and fantastical plots, and anime-inspired visuals. Andrew is also one of the founders of Eboshi Platinum, so you can check his work out on any of our socials or take a gander at his personal !

Woohoo! We have officially completed post-production on our short film, The End, this past weekend and we are DYING to share more details with you. But alas, you know how it is with film festivals and whatnot asking you to stay secretive until the circuit is over 😔

Oh well! We're working on a trailer as fast as we can and as soon as that is ready we can release that to the world! For now, here is a poster for the short.

If you've been keeping up with Guacamania! so far, you've probably noticed that it's pretty dang silly. While we've always liked thinking outside of the box here at Eboshi Platinum, the last few projects we've released have all had a thread of seriousness running through them, whether in atmosphere or subject matter or theme.

This time, Andrew J. Lee, writer and director of Guacamania! is taking a completely different approach. After his last few short films, Andrew wanted to create something that embodies the part of filmmaking and storytelling that he loves most: being entertained. The goal of Guacamania! is to bring joy to its audience--nothing less!

Guacamania! is just about a guy trying to stop his guacamole from browning so he can impress his girlfriend's parents, with no hidden agenda other than to make you laugh out loud. It will, of course, be full of visual comedy and fueled by Andrew's ever-lasting love affair with anime.

Wow! 8% of our goal just a day into our campaign??? Anyone who knows anything about this industry knows that a filmmaker is only as good as their community, and we are blessed to have the best in Atlanta.

We wanted to take a moment to express just how grateful we are to all the people who have made filmmaking a reality for us the past few years. Every single person, whether a PA, a grip, a designer, an editor, a storyboard artist, a producing partner, a rental house, a crowdfunding contributer, someone who has show up in the audience for our premieres, or any of the other hundreds of roles that are a part of this process--you know who you are and we could absolutely not do any of this without you! You are the ones making magic happen.

Thank you so much for being a part of the Eboshi Platinum family and making our filmmaking journey so darn pleasant!

It was around this time last year that we held our Atlanta Premiere for "A Sparrow Cries At Night" and "ADXM". We had an amazing turnout of over 300 guests that completely sold out the theatre (some of us had to stand in the back 🥲).

Thank you so much for coming out as it was a night we truly won't forget!

Andrew J. Lee here! I feel like I talk a lot about my love for anime so I just wanted to give a quick recap on the WHY. 

What is it about this medium that continues to draw me to it? The answer is quite simple really - anime is about as freeing as it gets when it comes to storytelling. It isn't held up to any certain standard or norm, so the stories get to be incredibly, and I mean INCREDIBLY creative. For example, what if I told you there was a futuristic police-state world where guns can now detect if you're going to be a serial killer (Psycho-Pass)? Or how about a story where a New Yorker with spiritual powers teams up with an Italian lady-killer and a Cyber-Nazi to fight immortal Aztec warriors to save the world (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency)? Yes, it's silly but it works I swear!

Point is - while wanting to tell truthful stories is quintessential to filmmaking, so is the joy of watching something fresh and totally unique. That's why I love anime so much. I get to just sit back and enjoy the ride without knowing where it's going to take me. It's entertainment to the highest degree no matter what. Maybe films nowadays should remember why people want to see them in the first place. They want to be entertained...and hopefully my next project will be just that.

P.S. These are my favorite animes of all time, in no specific order, and if you haven't seen any of them I highly recommend checking them out asap!
