Andy's Mini Lyrics Contest Home of the AMLC The AMLC will return on Monday, March 12. Some new issues are listed here, and some existing issues are clarified. Follow for updates.

NEW STUFF:
For the time being, each round of the AMLC will end when someone reaches 50 points. This is intended to keep more people interested – the rounds will go fairly quickly, more people will be able to remain competitive. It won't take long to hit fifty points, because:
Unless otherwise noted in the daily time announcement (such as during a theme week), correct answers will be scored as fo

llows: 2 points for the song title, correctly spelled; 2 points for the artist, correctly spelled; 1 point each for song and artist will be awarded for answers that are "close enough." If someone (including the person who originally answered), corrects the answer, they'll get the second point. For example, Person A is the first to answer, and mis-types "Beatels," they'll get one point. If Person B chimes in with the correct spelling, they will get the second point. Also, if Person A realizes that they've made a typo and can correct it before someone else does, they'll pick up the second point. This is intended to limit the moaning and groaning from the Chuckle Patch. This way, a typo won't cost you an entire answer, but there's still an incentive to get it right the first time. All "close enough" judgements will be made by me, and are final. I'm going to try to incorporate more theme weeks. They may not appear as often as you like, and some participants may feel like they don't have a chance during some particular weeks. This is what we in the business call "life." All daily posts will appear here on the AMLC page, as well as on Twitter. (This has been available for a long time, but I never bothered to tell anyone.) I had also intended to include the daily posts on Google+ but there's no easy way to use one script to make it all happen at the same time. Not easy = not doing it. NOT-SO-NEW STUFF:
The timing of each post will announced her (as it was before) at or around 9:00 am (Eastern). If the week is a theme week, that will be noted. Any change in the method of scoring for that week will also be indicated. The posts will show up (theoretically) between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm (Eastern). Occasionally, something will go wrong. Between my kindergarten-level knowledge of AppleScript, the capricious attitude of my Mac, Facebook gremlins, solar flares, and the intrusion of daily life I'm always (ALWAYS) surprised when the posts appear on time. So if a post is late or doesn't appear at all, or two show up on the same day, just go with it. I'll always try to delete double-posts if I catch them, but if two questions appear on the same day they'll both be worth their normal points. Standings will be available online. I'll post the link to the current Google Docs spreadsheet from time to time. Some songs/artists that have been posted in the past may reappear now and again. Sometimes this will completely accidental because my memory is getting worse every day. Sometimes it will be because I needed a good fit for a theme week, and I just don't care if a song was used in the past. I reserve the right to alter, extend, interpret or disregard all rules as I see fit. Good luck. Enjoy the AMLC.
