Welcome to the Transnatural Perspective Podcast!

Greetings everyone! Welcome to the Transnatural Perspectives where we’re putting nature in focus as we cultivate global perspectives on society & Culture across Environments and landscapes.

Ya know one of my favorite sayings “Nature is the home of culture”. With that in mind, one could deduce that nature or the environment or the ‘more-than-human-world’ or whatever...IS the roots of culture. There would be no culture without nature...because whether many of us would like to admit it or not, we are a part of what is commonly called nature. Considering the multitude of urgent socio-cultural issues that either produced or have been derived from the human-made climate crisis that we are now struggling with, it would almost be disingenuousto not include the natural environment in the foundation of any discussion of cultural or structural change......

For more than a decade I have been trekking all over this world as a student, researcher, and practitioner out in the field and in the classroom while combining a number of disciplines like Outdoor Education, the Social Sciences, tourism and the arts (like this podcast right here). Like many of us, I’ve been motivated by some basic nagging questions...big one being “how to facilitate a more sustainable world”... Along the way I always find myself meeting an international collection of creative minds and critical thinkers...teachers, guides, journalists academics, artists, activists, architects and others across all attacking this issue of sustainability from their own unique angles and occupations..... One could say i'm on a journey that transcends both culture and nature...let’s call it transnatural.

So, For a long time I’ve wanted to create some kind of resource and platform that can unite these voices...and this is that platform. I’m looking forward to sharing with you both well known voices and those that don’t get nearly enough exposure…I could be talking about you...perhaps you’re in a city hiding behind a stack of ungraded papers in a classroom somewhere...or maybe your riding a big rig through the newly deforested wilderness...struggling to keep your students engaged at the refugee camp...or maybe your waiting months or years for your research to be published...whatever the situation...there has to be another way. The times are changing, the climate is changing...and the argument has more or less been settled that we humans are living on borrowed carbon ...the time to rise is now and make our voices heard!
