Goblin Valley State Park
🥾 Goblin Valley Trail (Photo 1, 2)
We hiked 3 miles of this 5 mile hike, turning around early to save up our heat tolerance so that we could do a second trail! Seeing the many “goblin” hoodoos everywhere was crazy! And the desert is certainly heating up for the warm season
🥾 Goblin’s Lair (Photo 3)
Such a fun and quick trail at the very end, the scramble into the ‘chamber of the basilisk’ requires some fancy moves and steep steps to get down into. Really fun, and lots to look at along the way.

Bentonite Hills (Photo 4, 5, 6)
🥾 We hiked around these colorful humps for about 1.5 miles total. It’s a choose-your-adventure type of place with some of the best views sitting on top one of the hills. Colors are popping during blue hour!
- Long dirt road to get there: high clearance and 4WD recommended
- Photo 4 shows a stormy Factory Butte in the distance during sunset. 📷
- Photo 6 is the sunset glow hitting some of the nearby elevated rocks. The moment I saw the light hitting the earth like that I sprinted up the hill to get a look all around. So magic

We ate dinner in bed and caught some 💤 for Day 3-stay tuned!

Have you been to any of these spots? Are you a fan of desert textures?

📍long d**g spire - hanksville, UT

Tucked away in the desert, we got the gorgeous colorful sunset to ourselves next to a landscape that left me in awe.
I’m celebrating my birthday weekend as a true EXPLORER navigating across some unique, free, stunning places in Utah for the first time and I could not be more excited ✨

all the details comin soon, but I wanted a moment on the feed for this special sunset with my favorite dog and favorite guy behind the camera 🧡

one more year around the sun! 🎈

I’ve had an incredible 26 years on this earth …. the next one has big shoes to fill. With every year adding new challenges, decisions, feats, lows, accomplishments, goals, and memories, I am really proud and really happy with how I chose to live this last one.
Adopting the somewhat corny YOLO mindset and deciding to stop holding back, I am pushing myself to try new things, explore new places, work harder in my free time, and not waste any sunlight!

Within the last year I bagged 17 new peaks, visited 3 new National Parks, traveled to Alaska, began trying to monetize my social media, collaborated with several amazing brands, hosted/attending many group hikes and met so many incredible people, and most of all found a new level of self confidence, strength, and motivation to live life to the fullest.

I couldn’t have achieved what I am so proud of without all of the supportive family & friends who I got to enjoy many adventures with! 🫶🏼

I hope this next year I can continue livin’ the dream and inspiring many of you to do the same! Exploring this gorgeous planet is my favorite thing to do, and I love that I have this platform to share it with all my virtual friends.

Cheers to year 26! 🎂💕✨🏔️🎉🥾🐾

Anxiety is a fickle thing! 🧠

Last night I took Kenai and set out for a solo adventure on Antelope Island to get myself back into a better headspace. I was starting to feel anxious about work, overwhelmed with travel/content/birthday plans, etc and began to spiral.. which usually leads to me being stuck/frozen and not wanting to move at all.. even though I still *want* to get active.

Luckily the outdoors provide that escape and mental reset for me. I pushed myself physically, which activated a boost in serotonin and a release in endorphins-biological stress relief!+ I was able to process my thoughts and be in a more zen mood which gave me mental clarity and confidence to move forward with whatever I am dealing with in my life.

What helps you control or get rid of anxious thoughts or downward spirals?

———
👕 code MACK will save you 10% OFF your order… this is the brand that embodies the relationship between mental health 🧠 and the mountains 🏔️ —it’s why I align with them so well! and order a shirt to remind you of that feeling when you’re out in nature away from the troubles of the world 🌱

8:00 AND IT’S STILL LIGHT OUT 🎉

Another Malans Peak adventure with Kenai, + Leo made for a solid Tuesday evening. It was chilly in the shade, and still chilly with the sun going down, but the warmer and longer days are just about here!!

The snow is finally on it’s way out and while we might have another 1-2 snowy days here in Northern Utah… my favorite season is finally here 🌷

If you visit Malans Peak, bring your microspikes still! Gettin slippery with the melt and re-freezes

🐾 Interested in joining me in a group hike? I’m hosting one TONIGHT in Davis County! Comment “send me the details!” and I’ll DM you more info if you’re interested in coming along for a sunset pack hike 🧡

happy easter 🐰 to those that celebrate!

These are more photos from friday. I was in awe of how beautiful the sky looked with the blue and gray combining. And all of the snow, trees, and stillness I was surrounded by made it such a nice morning. A vlog of this trail can be found in my previous reel, but here are the trail details if you want to save it for later.

Distance: 4.6 miles RT
Elevation: 2,071 ft gain
Time: usually takes 2-3 hours
Difficulty: moderate-difficult
Conditions: the first mile along Taylor’s Canyon creek is mostly dry. Getting up to the bridge split for Malans you’ll still encounter minimal ice and packed snow. From there, microspikes are still needed the entire way. The vert is non-stop, don’t forget how it just keeps going on those switchbacks! Gorgeous views up top.
Traffic: surprisingly low for me, but usually high
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
*Great trail for EVERY SEASON! ❄️🌷🌻🍂

I’m excited for more peaks and more sunshine! ☀️
Cheers to the new week!

mornin’ on malans ☁️

Had to make up for the ultra windy day I hiked here two weeks ago where Kenai and I just about blew away! This time the trail was incredibly quiet, peaceful, cloudy, humid, and so nice.

From the creek splitting up at the first switchback…all the way back to halfway down the creek, I had the trail to myself!!!! So calm today for this being a pretty popular trail in Ogden 🤍

Looking forward to this weekend! What are y’all’s plans?
I’m hoping to hit another trail or two.. but haven’t decided where or when or who with yet. Depends on the rain that’s forecasted… 🌧️

(reel about my hike/run on malans will come tomorrow)

Cheers to the weekend! To celebrate my Friday I visited the Salt Lake foothills to romp around. I only passed three other people along the 5.75 miles route and it was so great.

We got a tease of amazing springtime weather just for it to turn a little bit muggy again this upcoming week. But the few days this week it felt so good out was enough to make me feel hopeful again! We can get through this 👏🏼

“kiss me I’m Irish” 🐾🍀🏔️🍻

My group sunset hike to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day was a fun success! We hiked Avenues Twin Peaks to watch the gorgeous, glowy sunset which to me is starting the week RIGHT!

Did you do anything to celebrate St Patty’s Day?

(I don’t know if I am any part Irish, btw)

sunset at antelope island state park 🌅

Dave and I took Kenai out with us to see the Great Salt Lake via the coolest State Park in the State of Utah on friday night. The three of us enjoyed eating tacos at the parking lot watching different wildlife, wandering around, exploring a new trail, and taking in the colors of the sunset until almost 8 pm. That mountain is the highest summit of the Island; Frary Peak- which is a favorite hike of mine.

What color sunsets are your favorite to see? The golden hour yellow/orange glows, or the pinky purple cotton candy skies?

Thank you daylight savings for extending the daylight so that we can enjoy moments like this after work hours. Now we just need this wind from hell to go away!!!!

And Happy St Patrick’s Day 🍀 As long as the wind dies down today (🤞🏼) I’ve got a fun sunset hike planned for tonight!

date night on antelope island 🌙

Dave, Kenai and I decided to spend Friday night exploring a new trail and taking in the gorgeous sunset after getting jack in the box. It was so nice, minimal wind, we got to see many different animals, and didn’t pass anyone else!

This is one of my favorite places to go because of how unique and beautiful it is 💞 Can’t beat sharing the trails with bison, having a ‘coast’ on one side, and seeing mountain peaks in every direction.

photos from Saturday exploring our ‘home’ trail 💙

We enjoyed some sun and warmer weather while exploring off-trail to get to some rocks for a good look-out. Can’t wait for a shed-hunting trip soon.

Kenai and I both tested out new products last weekend:
I got to wear my new shirt + shorts which just launched in their Spring Collection. The softest material EVER, so comfortable on your skin and very stretchy. The muted colors are my favorite 🙌🏼

And Kenai got to wear his new Aurora set from (harness, collar & leash) on the trail. We can’t get over how ADORABLE and QUALITY it is!!!

Stay tuned tomorrow for a full reel about the dog harness + gear. But if you’re just too excited to shop for your own, head to my bio and use the link and code KENAI to save 10% off 🎉

elephant rock - mueller park - Bountiful, UT

Views on the very relaxing trail to Elephant Rock 🪨 Blessing my feed with a single picture post today to match the vibe of this trail which is easy-going and somewhat quiet.

Despite being able to see the city being 3+ miles into this canyon, one of the only things you can hear from this point is the wind. This trail is very steady and great for runners or beginners. I first hiked it a few years ago and didn’t come back until this past Sunday with friends and pups.

When the snow melts and you’re left with a bunch of hibernating trees, the view isn’t as pretty as when it’s lush and green! I’m ready for prettier and warmer views ☀️

(Goodbye winter I won’t miss you)

donut falls trail - Big Cottonwood Canyon

Views from the trail back down from the cool little cave waterfall near SLC. See my last post for details about this hike! We had a pretty, clear blue sky for a Friday afternoon.

I’m so excited for longer days and warmer weather, although seeing the mountain tops covered in snow is a beautiful thing. I’m excited for some Springtime summits and glissades this season 👏🏼

donut falls - Big Cottonwood Canyon, UT

Until you actually go here… you kinda don’t know what to expect as far as where the falls are (especially in the snow!), how you get into the ‘cave’, or just how big it is. Even seeing all the pictures/videos online, reading about the trail, hearing about it from others… they don’t do it justice!
My mind couldn’t comprehend how the donut worked… so after 7 years being in Utah I finally went for myself 😁 🍩

I’m definitely going to bring my little siblings back to this one in the summer ☀️

Stay tuned and I’ll post a reel about the trail experience and give ya the details 🏔️ Thanks to .hike.teach for showing me this awesome little waterfall in the coolest, prettiest spot!

I have a shadow 🐾

Having him by my side out in the mountains feels so natural and joyful. He is sometimes behind me ‘in my shadow’ as we hike or run but more often is he a few paces in front of me leading the way to sense everything in the path.

I think him being half-Husky causes him to be very independent while outside; taking the lead, sniffing and exploring everything around him…. just like his Mama in that way 🤎

Kenai’s first day back on the trails after his little nail injury went great. We ended up with 6.6 miles hiking/little bit of running and passed lots of happy people and happy dogs!

green river overlook - Canyonlands National Park, UT
On Day #3 of our trip this past weekend visiting Moab we stopped at the mist-do sights in Canyonlands National Park Island in the Sky district. It’s not until being in the Needles district of the Park that I really understood why it’s called ‘Island in the Sky’. This section of the Park sits above everything else and looks far out into the land on every side.

This specific photo captures a part of that land that is mindblowing to me! It looks like a chunk of the earth was carved out!

What you’re looking at is a point you can walk up to and be 6000’ ft in elevation looking down at the Green River which meanders through the Soda Springs basin.

📍Green River Overlook, Canyonlands - short little walk from the parking lot!

Here are 3 other easy drive-up/walk-up viewpoints that I recommend stopping at when visiting Canyonlands National Park’s Island in the Sky district!

Hiking through the Needles district of Canyonlands National Park felt other-worldly.

The ‘needles’, pillars, and mushrooms of massive red rock on every side of us was so interesting to pass beside or through. The trail to Druid Arch had a couple spots that weaved in between small canyons giving a “slot” feel, while other portions of the trail felt more flat as you passed across desert brush until you got to the next canyon.

This photo was taken at *almost* the end of the trail! We looked up to see if this was THE Druid Arch, but as you kept following you could see another massive spire to the left which was the correct arch. Still, the way this rock formation towered over this dry, smooth river wash was so pretty-so I snapped a shot before moving on to the side.
