Sante Fe Square is really getting close now, or at least the corner of Elgin and 2nd is. Just a few more exterior bits to fill in and then it won't be long until it is ready to occupy.

Did another drive by a few days ago of the Western Supply project. It's taking off quick! This is an exciting project that will certainly change the look of this corner of downtown.

It looked like work was taking place inside the old Sandbar restaurant. Hopefully a new tenant is on the way soon. It's a fantastic location in many ways, but the last few tenants have struggled.

Zink Lake and the new pedestrian bridge are tantalizing close to completion. I think I can speak for most of Tulsa when I say we are just ready to have it finished at last. The gathering place opened up in 2018 after it's own delays and long construction period. This part of the river has been walled off for many years now.

Exciting work taking place on Cherry Street! We've been told this three story development will include a new location of the popular brunch restaurant Hatch as well as a Tapas restaurant with a large third floor balcony.

🏙️🛠️ Exciting developments in Tulsa, Oklahoma! GTS is at the forefront, performing construction materials testing for a multi-story commercial project. We're observing the installation of drilled piers for this innovative endeavor, which includes developing a 19,000 sq ft building on a 7,200 sq ft lot!

Tulsa Remote has been a huge success story for Tulsa. Here is an update and overview of how the program has impacted our city:

Tulsa Remote has been offering workers $10,000 to move. It turns out that they're boosting the economy.

Not much movement at the former home of Lowood/Hodges Bend. Probably still waiting on insurance, not to mention new building plans to save the historic facade. Hopefully they are able to work something out soon. Until then, it appears the walls have been stabilized.

New Story Brewing has been inching forward on their new tap room in downtown Tulsa just across the parking lot from Fur Shop. Looks like progress has been much slower than anticipated since they originally wanted to open in late 2023 and the building looks mostly untouched on the outside so far.

The company is actively brewing however, and has apparently had their beers in a few local establishments. They also recently acquired the Elk Valley Brewing brand and have been working to bring some of those beers back to distribution.

It makes sense to focus on the beer first and the tap room second, so we wish them the best of luck and look forward to finally being able to hang out here later this year (knock on wood).

The Boxyard has always struggled, but these days it seems to be barely hanging on. Open Container sadly closed down last year; very unfortunate now that the weather has been so nice. Most of the other spaces are empty besides the liquor store and a Bodega. Rozays is still around apparently, but they seem to be closed for lunch on Mondays at least.

What do you think the Boxyard needs to do to keep tenants?

Did a quick drive by of the "Western Supply" project, which is very well underway. This project will provide affordable housing within the IDL, among other things. This is a critical need for service industry workers and others.

City Lights Village is marching forward!
From their website: City Lights Village will be a 23-acre master planned community for vulnerable Tulsans experiencing housing insecurity. The City Lights neighborhood will provide affordable, permanent housing, with supportive services.

A beautiful sight to see! ☀️

One of Tulsa's most famous cultural establishments, The Colony, will now be owned and operated by a group of local musicians! Sounds like the legacy will live on just the way it should for the foreseeable future.

Musicians purchased the Tulsa club that debuted in 1958.

There's a new building going in next to the Blue Dome. We are told it will be a small two story office building, similar in appearance to the Rose Pawn building on the other side. Speaking of Rose Pawn, the business closed last August and is now being cleared out for another office renovation. This corner will look very different by next year!

Progress continues on Santa Fe Square. Brick continues to slowly cover the corner building, while the center building is just getting started. We are looking forward to finally seeing this block be completed. Remember when this was a desolate gravel lot?

A block of old brick single story buildings at the corner of 11th and Main were demolished this week. The buildings were fairly unsubstantial, but their loss contributes to Tulsa's problematic "parking-crater" phenomenon, where old buildings are demolished to be replaced with surface lots in the core of the city. Rumor has it that First Methodist now owns this lot and will create either greenspace, parking, or both as a continuation of their campus.

Buildup Tulsa encourages preservation, but we also love progress. Sometimes its hard to draw a line between the two and decide which is more beneficial to the community. We'll definitely miss the charm of the old brick and the amazing mural that was on one of these buildings, but they were nothing amazing architecturally and no longer had a good use. First Methodist contributes a great deal to the community so their continued stewardship over the area is a good thing, even though they certainly don't have a preservationist attitude.
