HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s me, , your DC producer who writes these wonderful captions and runs the socials. I was honored to be asked by to come on my own show and talk about my love of gateway Horror movies and little monsters. I have always aimed for Dagger Cast to be raw and real, and it was very cool to actually sit in the guest chair and experience a conversation with our wonderful host. We talk about how our podcast started as well as the music supervision work I did on with my production company, Nite Smoke (which is begins streaming and showing in select theaters on February 2nd)! This is very much a Dagger Cast alumni film and we are so excited for everyone aboard! We have great ideas for guests this year and love making our little show. We hope you enjoy this little meta episode to start off 2024! Stay cool, stay scary, stay weird, friends.

Happy December! This wild and crazy year is about to come to an end and we have a very special Folk Horror episode for you! No matter which spiritual monster you worship, there is something for everyone..... after all, Folk stories were meant to scare little children into behaving. Nothing more terrifying than a strange man coming down your chimney and eating your food. Our holidays are steeped in Pagan traditions, strange rituals, and terrifying snowy nights. Joining us, we have the charismatic Folk Horror fanatic and Babes with Blades artistic director Hayley Rice! If you don’t know Babes with Blades, we highly suggest going to their website and booking yourself a ticket for their Spring 2024 show titled “The S Paradox”, which was directed by Dagger Cast Alumni, Morgan Manasa! We hope you light some candles and enjoy this month’s discussion! If you’d like to be a guest in 2024, send us a message at [email protected] or on Instagram. No matter your situation, we hope the holidays bring you peace and togetherness.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We couldn't think of a more appropriate guest than the one and only ! This one is a real treat, so grab that old pillow case it and fill it up with this wonderful interview! Shannon is not only an amazing musician (check out her latest release, So Long, on your preferred service or go buy it on bandcamp, it rules!!!), she is also a lover of our favorite genre AND a librarian! It was great catching up with her and talking about Talk to Me as well as a great conversation about musician burnout! Lindsey discusses some great Halloween movie suggestions as well. We hope you enjoy! Stay scary, friends!

Happy August? It is certainly the summer of our discontent but we are super excited for this new episode with actor/ninja !!! We believe the youth will save us all one day, please?!?! Maisie may play younger characters but she has no shortage of maturity. As our youngest guest yet, she is incredibly well spoken, poised, and full of positive energy! She has two independent Horror films rounding the festival circuit right now, one called Black Mold and the other is our beloved Departing Seniors (which is premiering at London Fright Fest next week!) Look them up on IMDB, follow them, be the first to know! In solidarity with the writers/actors strike we refrained from discussing her equally amazing television resume. We were honored Maisie took the time to talk with us about her love of old black and white Horror films (and the bloopers), as well as how important it is to have the right director in order to perform incredibly emotional/intense scenes comfortably. She is quite a talent and we are so excited to see what the future has in store for Miss Maisie Merlock. Enjoy!

Hello fellow Dagger Cast Horror freaks and rockers!.... this month we have Fern and David Arias of Chicago band Avantist joining us for a discussion on why dad's love The Exorcist, how older brothers have a tendency to recommend an overwhelming amount of movies/music to their younger siblings. as well as what Horror films are appropriate to show your kids. This episode was a blast to record and we hope you laugh as much as we did. Lindsey also discusses the Grimace shake phenomenon because yeah, it's weird and we like that kind of s**t. Enjoy and stay scary friends! Let the cringe unite us all!

Happy Old Year! For our last episode of 2022 we have the one and only Chicago artist Frank Okay! Frank has recently relocated to Tokyo to continue his art studies…they share some stories and life lessons they have learned as an American in Japan. They also nerd out over Horror influenced Japanese animation and terrifying David Lynch films. I’m addition to making art, Frank also makes music and just released two albums over the past year. Check out their bandcamp page at frankokay.bandcamp. Frank's motto is "be yourself and make a lot of stuff" .....which is the best advice we've gotten in months!

To top off this leaning tower of awesome, Frank AND Lindsey have a show coming up on January 7th at Subterranean (upstairs)! We have claimed this as a “mini Ian's Party” and this episode is a shameless plug. We are happy to have Frank back in Chicago for the holidays and hope to see you on the 7th! HAVE A GREAT REST OF YOUR YEAR EVERYONE! ***rpodcast

Are you frozen? Am I frozen? Despite some technical difficulties we managed to scrape together this wonderful episode with old friend/ Chicago musical maestro Vito Nusret! Vito is responsible for putting many of your favorite Chicago bands on stage through the years and was always your rock when you were too drunk at the show. Dude had everyones' back since day one and for that, we have all the gratitude. Since the times they are a changin', Vito began writing his Movies in a Minute reviews and sharing them on Facebook as a writing exercise. He has since started writing for Daily Grindhouse and Neon Splatter! Not only a Chicago punk rock torch bearer, also a Horror aficionado, our kinda guy! This was a fun talk between friends catching up. Lindsey also weighs in on the film Master. You won't want to miss it! Stay dangerous, friends! SPOTIFY/SOUNDCLOUD/APPLE PODCASTS/ YOUTUBE

Aaaaaand WE'RE BACK! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! It's been a bit and we have some news for you (as well as a new episode!) We are sad to say that our founding host Brian Kirst has decided to leave to the show to focus on his writing. We bid him a warm farewell and will miss him very much! You can and should follow Brian everywhere and anywhere under his moniker. We cannot wait to see what he is stirring up and will keep you all posted!

Instead of saying farewell to our beloved show we enjoy making so much, Lindsey has decided to carry the torch with the same production team and a whole new format! We are excited to have Chicago actor/ multi-disciplinary artist Morgan Manasa for our October Guest to talk about the new, super-rad film Barbarian. (SPOILER ALERT CITY!!!) Currently Morgan has a production in the works with Babes With Blades called Plaid as Hell, which premiers November 4th at The Factory Theater in Rogers Park. She was a lovely guest! We hope you enjoy and have a great HALLODAY! ***r

Hello fellow Dagger Cast witches and warlocks, we have a super special episode after a little time off. Jaime Adrian is a Mexican American singer from the south east side of Chicago with a dream of being a gay pop music icon for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth around the world. Jaime started singing in Spanish when he was 8 years old but his taste in music evolved over time. While growing up in an environment of spanish, rap, and alternative music Jaime found himself drawn to UK/Euro pop artists like A-Teens, Steps, S Club 7, Samantha Mumba, Anastacia, and Britney Spears. He now lists Cheryl Cole, Rita Ora, The Saturdays and Little Mix as his main influences in music. He is a beyond sweet human being with limitless talent. We are so excited for him to be a part of our podcast. Hope you enjoy! ***rartist ***r

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE!!!! As if watched over by the incisive, kick-ass celluloid trio of Adrienne Barbeau, Karen Black & Lynda Day George, writer-historian (and consummate horror lover) Owen Keehnen has been one of Chicago’s most colorful and important chroniclers of the LGBTQIA experience for decades now. From his work with the iconic powerhouses of ACT UP in the ‘80s to his current passionate pursuit of chronicling the history of both the Belmont Rocks and Man’s Country, Keehnen is the very essence of Pride in action. Thus, Dagger Cast is thrilled to have him as our guest this June. Please join us as Owen regales us with tales of such iconic Midwest drag personas as Miss Tillie & The Bearded Lady and explains why Barbara Hershey is the perfect scary movie goddess for his (and every) generation!” ***r . NEW EPISODE ALERT!!!! After being named one of the Midwest’s 30 Under 30, out, on the rise actor-writer-director Jose Nateras, wisely, took off for the warmer climes and career opportunities offered by the West Coast. Since arriving there, his debut novel Testament, a q***r ghost story focused around heartbreak and recovery from emotional despair, has been released to critical acclaim. His LGBTQIA inspired screenplay Zero Feet Away has also been optioned by a major entertainment network and another one of his throwback works is set to be filmed this summer. On this new edition of Dagger Cast, Jose joins us to talk about the inspirations behind his writing and discusses the realistic, often less than glamourous realities of having a major film in development. His also engages with Lindsey and Brian in a lively discussion about the chat worthy French movie Titane, a film that percolates with unusual outsider energy – making this episode the perfect way to begin your Pride Month celebrating.
