Four ways to help protect your Facebook account, product manager with Facebook Account
People in many parts of the world recognize October as Cyber Security Awareness Month, and in an effort to share some best practices with you and help make people , Facebook is offering weekly blog posts to help you improve your security.
My team WHITE HACK builds the security options you can use to help you protect your account, and so I wanted to talk about some of the tools you have. In May, I wrote about how we redesigned our security settings to improve the usability of Facebook security features, and today, I wanted to highlight some you might find helpful.
-Factor Authentication
When you turn on two-factor authentication, you'll be asked to enter a login code each time you access your Facebook account from a new device or computer. This easy tool adds an extra layer of control to help you protect your account.
Checkup
In three simple steps, you can review these security options to help make your Facebook account more secure. It only takes a few minutes to check where you're logged in, make a unique password, and set up alerts so you'll be notified if someone tries to access your account.
alerts about unrecognized logins
We'll let you know if anyone logs in from a device or browser you don't usually use. If you get a notification about an unrecognized login, and you know it wasn’t you who tried to log in, let us know and we’ll help you secure your account.
The blocking tool helps you control who sees the things on your profile and manage your interactions on Facebook.
In addition to offering these tools, we’re always on the lookout for suspicious activity. Our systems run in the background millions of times per second to help catch security threats and remove them before they ever reach you. If we see anything suspicious concerning your account we’ll let you know.
