THE LIGHT OF LIFE
MEMORY VERSE: John 8:12
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
You cannot have Jesus in your life and walk in darkness. He is the light of the world. He is the Word of God that brings illumination and enlightenment. The scripture declares that,
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:3-5)
He is the light of God that brought the creation into being. He is the author of life and the giver of light. He is the true light which gives light to every man that comes into the world (John 1:9). Life without Jesus is living in obscure darkness.
This is the reason why many people are living in ignorance, confusion, despair, despondence, penury, distress and uncertainty; because they don’t have the light of life. Life is a mystery to them because it is full of darkness. We need the light of life. Jesus is the light of life. He is the Word of God that enlightens our darkness.
Psalms 119:105 says,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
He is the light of God that gives us guidance and direction in life. People make blunders because they lack divine guidance and direction. We need to learn to follow the Word of God because He is our guide. He is the one who teaches us to profit and leads us by the way we should go (Isaiah 48:17). He said that the one who follows Him shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
We follow Him by hearkening to His voice. To hearken means to hear and do. The Word of God has a voice and we need to learn to follow His voice. He leads us by His voice. He said,
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27)
We are the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 95:7). He leads us into abundance and prosperity. He refreshes us and leads us in the paths of righteousness. He protects and disciplines us and causes us to live a successful and victorious life in Him (Psalms 23:1-6). When you follow Jesus, your life will be excellent and glorious. Praise God!
Declaration
The Lord is my Light and salvation. He is the strength of my life. He lights up my candle and enlightens my darkness. He is my joy, peace and comfort. He is the one who leads me and shows me the way; thus, I can never be lost. There is no darkness on my path because I have the light of life. I shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace. I am preserved in my going out and coming in. I am a success, in Jesus’ mighty and glorious name. Amen.
