979Represent is the fruit of one of those late-night discussions like you had in college, y'know, those "Wouldn't it be awesome if...?" conversations. While most of those involved mating unlikely animals to form a new species, or an unlikely mating between the participants and some very attractive female, this particular late-night chat was actually conducted during the light of day via email, to

the tune of something like this:

"Wouldn't it be awesome if we started up our own magazine?"

Well, yeah, it would be pretty dope. So, months later, after many hours of sweat, labor, hair-tearing and copious amounts of bad beer and metal medicine, voila. Here is the first issue of 979Represent, a local magazine for the Brazos Valley dirtbag, chronicling what there is to do around here and what is going on for the average person who's not looking to hook up on Northgate, or hook up at Midnight Yell. 979Represent is for skateboarders, metalheads, punk rockers, fixie riders, artists, DIY'ers, dead-end nightmare kids and responsible adults alike. This magazine publishes monthly, and you will find inside live music reviews, band interviews, local CD reviews, Atarimatt's 8-Bit Burger reviews, the concert calendar and other miscellaneous debris...which sounds suspiciously like the s**t you've probably already read before at http://www.979represent.com

Got story ideas? Playing a gig in town and want folks to know about it? Just beat your previous high score on Mario Kart? Please do us a favor and drop by the businesses who have so kindly advertised in our maiden issue. Without these folks the 979 would be so much more do***ey and we need to keep them in bizness.

It took a year or two but 979Represent The Book has officially sold out. We are not going to publish another edition. We figure everyone who wanted one likely got one. However, we are going to see about converting it into an epub file so those of you that dig e-readers can get in on the action. Stay tuned.

So, uh, remember that book thing we were talking about? We started the process of getting it to print this week. $20 a book. You'll be able to buy a copy directly from The 101 or if you live outside of B/CS you can mail order yours through a portal we will create from the Sinkhole Texas Inc. Bandcamp page. Oh...and the cover looks like this...Katie Killer, y'all. We are likely going to run a special lithograph print of the front cover as well. I mean, I know I want one of those on my wall. Don't you?
