I saw a spoiler for love's ambition. And there, it was revealed that the entire Shen family knew about Xu Yan’s real identity, and everything was planned out by them from the very start. Xu Yan, who has no idea, tried her best to hide her secret that was already found out a long time ago. That explains why Haoming show up at the perfect time whenever xu yan needs help.
Haoming's mother said that the first meetup of Xu Yan and Haoming was a plan they had executed. That's why Haoming keeps rejecting the interview sent by Xu Yan's secretary because he wants Xu Yan to come for herself, and she did. When he agreed to the interview and Xu Yan showed up while Haoming did his presentation, that was the beginning of their plan to make Xu Yan fall for Haoming, and again, she did fall into the trap.
According to Haoming's mother, they had already investigated Xu Yan’s identity before they met her. And they all knew that she was lying, but they kept asking questions and bringing up something that related to her past to test her calculating mind. They enjoy watching her make all the excuses.
And the reason why they did all of that was for two (2) different reasons:
(1) If Haoming marries someone from a prestigious family, for sure they won't accept his son (a mistake he made in his youth, as he said), and the family of the girl would definitely find out, as they can investigate it considering their influence. But Xu Yan is different; she's powerless, no connection. So Haoming chose her so that he could control Xu Yan easily.
(2) Haoming's mother wants to lessen her burden as a lady of the family. If Haoming marries a rich girl, she probably won't help with cooking and taking responsibility for Haoming's son. So they deliberately fooled Xu Yan and took advantage of her by making her do all of that.
i really felt bad for xu yan. the world is too cruel for her that even the person she thoughts accepted her actually used her.
