Review: This took me less than half a day to finish & I am obsessed with the nickname sugar. I refuse to be called anything else at this point!! I think Emmy is a cute character, but very surface level. I felt like we only got a glimpse at her back story, & the story focused directly on her accident that brought her back home to Rebel Blue Ranch. I love a great “brother’s best friend” trope, & this was actually really well done (minus Gus’ outburst). I can understand why Gus got upset with Luke & Emmy’s relationship, but he was so unsupportive it felt embarrassing that he wouldn’t give the two people in his life immediate understanding. HE PUNCHED HIS BEST FRIEND before even speaking to him about them dating?! Talk about immaturity. I almost only connected with Luke & occasionally Emmy when she had banter. It was still a very cute read & was perfect for getting me out of a reading slump.

One of the top recommended reads was the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. I got this a while ago, but kept putting it off because it has very little romance. I promised myself I would give this series a chance, so it’s on my April hopefuls 🤞!

Review: I was mesmerized by the world. It was dark fairytale, spooky, & reminded me of The Brother’s Grimm.
From the moment I read about the nightmare in Elspeth’s head, I was immediately hooked. She was a great FMC, who was intriguing, & always an arms length away from everyone (including her family). The nightmare in her head always had poetic riddles that I loved, & the repetition made it even more alluring.

With the story, I hated how the Rowan’s wanted to harness all the power & maintain their regency. Hence why the town (Blunder) was not allowed to use any magic from the infection from the mist other than from the providence cards. It was such a unique magic system, that I’ve never read anything like it. Basically, any magic you use or take whether from being infected by the mist or given through providence cards, you would have to give something back (that isn’t of their volition or choice). Ravyn & Elspeth both had their secrets, but their love story made the premises even more alluring because of his devotion to her.

The ending was a cliffhanger, but got me excited to immediately read the next book!

Review: If you love pirate romance, this one’s for you. Erik is a morally grey sea fae that seeks revenge against those that wronged him, so he took Livia who is his enemy’s daughter. This was such a slow burn (bangxiety as coined from another bookstagrammer) where we just kept waiting until there was finally passion, & the spice was explosive. We have a scarred MMC & anxious FMC, which creates that protectiveness from both sides. Not to mention she was stubborn, but righteous & was not only protective of her man, but the side characters. On a side note, I tend to find a lot of fantasy books borrow ideas from other books. When I read some of the serpent & songbird elements in the book, it felt a lot like “The Serpent & The Wings of Night” when there shouldn’t be any correlation? But I definitely found a lot of similarities. Other than that, this book is magical & I loved the pirate vs viking, with unique magic systems taken from ancient mythologies. I love a good revenge trope, which this has proven to be more than that.

We’ll start with “Little Fox” & end with “Little Devil” for the progressive heat 😏. Honestly, I ADORE cute nicknames. My husband & I give each other a variety, but he usually calls me bean sprout 🌱 (which grew on me) or pumpkin spice. I usually just call my husband puppy or bunny (a Bali restaurant owner called him Honey Bunny so I had to one up her term of endearment with my own). 「🥀 Current Read」
I was definitely influenced to buy this book — then got my hands on the FairyLoot version & am completely in love with the beautiful artwork 😍. Review: If you do not like erotic novels, I would suggest you skip this. This is basically the spiciest & kinkiest plot that gets crazier as we continue — it was surprisingly good for being practically 90% *erotica*. That aside, the MMC Ryat is very possessive but he always has Blake’s back throughout all her turmoils & got her out of a loveless arranged marriage. There is some serious taboo in here, so I suggest not going into this blindly & reading up all the TW. The LORDS were honestly insane, but in the best way & made me contemplate how power & manipulation work hand in hand to give the characters what they ultimately want. There is palpable suspense & shows that actions speak louder than words.

「✨ACOTAR🧚✨」
I don’t deserve to be called a romantasy lover because *gasp* I’ve never finished ACOTAR… I know, I know. I finished reading the first book & loved it, so listened to the audiobook & loved that too. 🫶🏻🥺 I did a reread this month to recap & wanted to indulge in the series so I could build anticipation without finishing off this world Maas created, too quickly. I’d say my pace is one book every 2 months so I won’t hit a slump of missing Velaris & the fairy/bat boys too much. Also, I’m still on the Tamlin train — loving him at the moment but word on the street is I’m going to regret my words?! 😂

Remember we’re all in this together. We should all romanticize our reading journeys. 🤭

⭑ You do not need the most aesthetically pleasing book feed to share thoughts about a book. If you take great pictures or have graphic design skills, great! But all feeds are insightful knowledge to the next best book.
⭑ We shouldn’t rush ourselves to finish a book on a deadline (or give ourselves stress) for something we should enjoy. If the process isn’t serving you, then you should reevaluate what reading means to you.
⭑ You don’t have to be pressured to like a popular book. They aren’t always the best books FOR YOU & that’s okay! We all have different opinions!
⭑ Don’t subscribe to consumer culture, that is tiring. Read what you love & enjoy!
⭑ Whoever tells you audiobooks isn’t real reading is an ableist. Audiobooks count as REAL reading time.
⭑ You haven’t read over 90% of your bookshelf? Who cares! If books make you happy, then collect away! Having a trophy bookshelf means you can shop your own books in the future — win-win!
⭑ It’s okay to like one genre, but it’s also fine to jump to a different one from time to time. Reading books are supposed to be based on our mood & what we want.
⭑ This was one I had trouble with the most, especially when I’ve already read 50% of a book I don’t like. Sometimes, I’ll try listening to an audiobook version before I finally give up. DNFing saves you time for a book better suited to you, so don’t feel pressure to finish if you don’t like it.

Review: Wow… was this first book to the Maple Hills series is spicy! I didn’t realize how steamy this book was going to be because of the cover & went into it pretty blindly. I thought the plot was incredibly well-done for something so s**tty, but can we talk about Nate Hawkins? I love golden-retriever boyfriends, he was just such a dream. This novel features an ice hockey meets figure skater romance, & the way they handle conflict each time just makes me want to applaud 👏🏻. The only reason I had to give this less than five stars was because of the predictability, or maybe because fast-burn romance takes away from the tension building for me. I will definitely be picking up more of Hannah Grace’s books, I loved this intro to her!

Like my bio, I have ZERO shelf control (haha you’ll all find I’m very punny) when it comes to special edition books. When “The Heartless Hunter” (or UK edition “The Crimson Moth”) came out, I was immediately obsessed with the covers. It was a hard decision figuring out which version I wanted, but in the end this green cover stole my heart & I can’t wait to read this. 🤭

Review (Spoilers): I got the ick the moment Zade started calling Adeline his little mouse 🐭. I love a good pet name, but this wasn’t cute to me… it fit the bill for a stalker wanting to win his prey. It doesn’t really go into detail what set Adeline apart from all the other women he’s seen & to become overwhelmed with the desire to make her his first victim. It has such a dark plot line I had to question myself if I needed therapy because some of the scenes were HOT. I love “touch her & die” tropes, so I’m obviously not upset about this book. The plot is a stalker romance with a hint of murder mystery & our morally grey hottie, Zade, that is out to save women & children. On top of all of that, we’re left with a cliffhanger!

「How do you romanticize your reading?」
🫶🏻 I’m not going to lie, I read because it makes the mundane less dull. Whenever I read, I can conjure up a soundtrack & images in my head. I can smell the forest or places sprinkled in fairy dust, it’s almost like I can taste the magic.

Here are five ways I like to spice up my reading:
★ I always bring a cozy blanket & make sure I have my refreshments refilled.
★ If I have my AirPods or music, I download fireplace sounds so it feels nice & cozy — sometimes switching it up between the pitter patter of rain.
★ The book has to go with whatever mood I’m in, otherwise I usually DNF. So I’m very picky about what books I alternate between.
★ I always have quotes I write in a little notebook or highlight on my kindle to read again later. It’s different from annotating because I can combine book quotes together.
★ When I’m done with a book, I make sure I have my partner or someone to talk to about it so they can hear my recap without reading the book. It’s almost like I’ve lived through the pages again & helps build memory for when the next books release.

「✨Do you love YA Fantasy?✨」
Honestly, a couple friends recommended this book to me & I kept putting it off because I love my books with more romance & 🌶️ spice. I just started reading & boy was I wrong, it’s taking me on an adventure that I’m surprised I’m having fun with! When I was reading this, I couldn’t help but imagine sunflowers & oranges. You know when you can picture a book being a color? This was a vivid orange … I can’t explain it, books are colorful in my head.
