In the first of our three-part series for BBC2, photographer and filmmaker Simon Frederick, guides us through conversations with his incredible cast, who reveal their heartfelt stories and unfiltered opinions to paint a unique portrait of how art and activism for black people in film are indivisible from race and cinema. We are witnessing the revolutionary rise of black Hollywood and the Oscar-winning ‘Moonlight’, becomes a symbol for black Cinema, a stand out moment when black filmmakers could identify when diversity and inclusion really started to take over the industry.
