My goofball self forgot to keep track when I was labeling my new pings over the summer 🤦🏻‍♀️ so some of these pings may have the wrong name 😅 but because of how it looks, this MIGHT be the Mehitable… or maybe even the gigantea “red flush” x cyclosecta because both have dark purple blossoms. This one is finally going to bloom, so once it does, I’ll know since the Mehitable has some white on the inner petals while the RF x C is solid purple 😅

If you’re looking for some new oinguiculas or other me carnivorous plants, has a great collection, so they’re my go-to for these natural sticky traps 💚 don’t forget to use my code KATRINA to save 10% on your next order!

Did you buy a new plant this week? 🪴 I got this Golden Oxalis, which is reminiscent of the O. ‘Plum Crazy’ in stature. This is a tiny one compared to the O. Triangularis! I love the colors on this one! I love earthy and sunset shades after all. My daughter has decided to name this plant Goldie, and kept getting upset when I put her down while looking at other plants — still intending to purchase her regardless 🫠 Oh, how proud I am of my plant-loving mini-me 🥰 Now, this oxalis is easy to care for in my opinion. Some say these miniatures would prefer high humidity, but my Plum Crazy has been content in both a high humidity cabinet and in 30%-50% humidity with a grow light. They open and close just like the big oxalis, too!

Happy Monstera Monday, planty friends 🌱 here is a view of my two Thai Constellations, Barquillos and P**o (Filipino rice cake). Both have growth that’s peaking on the petioles, so let’s hope we see a new leave within the next couple of weeks, and MAYBE one or both will be fenestrated!! ✨

What plant phase were you in before your current plant obsession? I LOVED pepperomias. I still do, but anthuriums & alocasias have stolen my heart. Aside from my husband and daughter 😅 This is probably my most favorite Peperomia, and ‘Ecuador’ — mainly because of its size. It has doubled its size since I first got Purin, and it was likely because he was in the Milsbo for a while. Apparently one leaf can get to a foot in diameter?! But look at those ripply leaves! 👀

Finally got a Micans! Isn’t she lovely? I am absolutely loving how beautiful this philodendron is especially in the morning light. The past couple of days hasn’t been as bright due to the weather, so I am appreciative of todays glorious sunny morning. I love iridescent colors, and so this Velvet Leaf Philodendron happened to be in such perfect lighting at the plant shop, so it was time to get one ❤️ the bronze pink tones are so gorgeous, and I’m so excited to watch her grow — which reminds me, I should get her some sort of trellis soon! Have a wonderful Saturday, planty pals!

What is an underrated philodendron? I’ve been saying for a while that I won’t get another philodendron, but I still do to this day. Dàntǎ is a P. Sodiroi, but I feel I don’t see these as often. This one is a climber, so I should probably get him a mini trellis soon, but I just trimmed him for propagations. I love the red & green petioles on the Sodiroi! It’s leaves also have an almost watercolor effect to it to. Well, happy my dear planty pals! 🤍

Happy my dear planty friends 🌱 what is YOUR favorite anthurium? Matcha the A. Clarinerviun sprouted this new leaf over the past week, and I’m loving the autumn color vibes it is giving! Even as my anthurium collection slowly grows, this will still be one of my favorites because it was my first anthurium. Hope you all are having an amazing day as we are wrapping up the week 🤍

Happy 🪴 What is your favorite trailing plant? I had heard how difficult String of Pearls can be, but I finally caved and purchased a baby SOP the other day. It’s very cute and tiny, and I was advised that if you gently squeeze a pearl, it will help you know if it’s thirsty. So if it feels like a cooked green pea, it needs water 😅 what helps you care for your SOP? I want this to be a big beautiful plant one day. Now I need to set up a place for hanging plants soon!

Bow down to the king! 👑 The King Anthurium that is! I finally got my Veitchii, and I’m SO excited. He’s still a baby, and luckily, he’s a slow grower. That means I don’t need a new Milsbo just yet because I honestly don’t have a lot of room now 🫣 I love the texture — it’s so ripply! When you see Veitchii (or any other plant) everywhere on social media, you know it’s a sign to obtain one for yourself ❤️ I cannot wait to see him grow, and he already has a new leaf coming! Is there a plant you’ve seen lately that you just have to have?!

Can you guess how many dots are on Dango the Begonia Maculata?? 🤔 I love using the morning light to capture the colors of my plants’ leaves, and often I feel that those that aren’t by the window, I cannot fully appreciate them. The back of the Maculata’s silver-spotted leaves is a beautiful copper or clay red color. The spots glittered in the morning sun rays, and the red was so lovely. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with Dango once he gets bigger as he is currently in the Detolf. The humidity has helped it to grow, but he should be fine without it once he reaches a certain height. Apparently they can go to 4ft — perhaps taller? Anyways, have an amazing day, planty friends! 🫶

Should we start a ? I am truthfully not a major fan of Strjng of ____ varieties, but I have three currently. Palmier (String of Hearts) has been growing quite well, and I have had Kame-pan (String of Turtles), but the latter hasn’t grown much. Yesterday, my daughter really wanted the cute Variegated String of Hearts you see here, and it made my heart happy seeing her hold it lovingly. She actually named it Lovey! 🥰

I wish I remembered whose video I came across a couple days ago, so I can tag them, but they gave me some helpful insight about SOTs: That they have shallow roots! So, 💡 moment. I checked and my SOT surely did have healthy but short roots. As did this baby VSOH. Using the containers from my pinguicula order, I added drainage holes, and now the SOT and VSOH have a temporary home till their roots get bigger & stronger.

If whoever made that video in the past couple days sees this, please tell me so I can thank you. Love how our community is always sharing the knowledge ❤️

Swipe ⬅️ to see the three 🪴 that brought my houseplant count to 100 ⭐️ I want to thank you all for supporting me on my plant mom journey! It hasn’t been long, and it’s unbelievable that since August, collection has gone from 1 to 100 quite literally. I’ve gone through trial and error. Trying different mediums. Plants almost not making it. Propagating away. Plus, even more rewarding, meeting amazing new people including those I’m proud to call friend. ❤️ Also, I forever mention him, but hubby is the true MVP for going from implying that I have too many plants, and now he’s saying “babe I think we need another cabinet just for Mouse Cake (aka Musukeki the Mickey Mouse Alocasia,)” or in general because he sees how beneficial the high humidity has been.

I’m excited to continue growing my collection, and growing overall: As a mom, a wife, a plant mom — and not forgetting who I am as an individual. Thank you for joining me on my journey, and I’m so thrilled for what’s next!

As for plants, I brought these beautiful babies home yesterday. Some of you were on the right track with guesses! 🥰

Don’t you love when the morning sun is absolutely gorgeous & bright?! ☀️ especially for photo ops! From my houseplant collection, my husband has a few favorites. When it comes to colorful plants, he loves Suman the Aglaonema ‘Siam Red’ (may also be known as ‘Siam Aurora’). Since being in the cabinet, she has consistently grown new leaves every week. As my husband puts it, the red is almost neon! It’s so beautiful.

Did you know that this plant can do well in low light? I initially purchased this so it could be in a darker area of my home. However, now that it’s under beaming grow lights AND in the Milsbo, the red/pink have flourished. From what I have learned, in low light, the red/pink coloring will not be as prevalent. So I’m glad I moved it!

May you all have a great rest of the week ❤️ maybe get some discounted Valentine’s Day chocolate and candy? 👀

It’s a snowy day here in my part of Maryland! ❄️ no plants were injured during the making of these photos!! Meet Tiramisu the Arabica Coffee Plant! I briefly left the door open and held Tiramisu from the doorway, so neither of us would be out in the snow. I have been wanting a coffee plant for a while especially because I always saw the one at , so I finally got mine from too!

From what I have learned, this plant is similar to what grows actual coffee beans. Sounds like it is difficult to have berries grow, but I have seen that some people have grown them with certain conditions. Supposedly flowers followed by fruits could grow on a mature coffee plant within 3-5 years. Wouldn’t that be cool?! You would need more than this tiny plant though for a cup of joe! ☕️

Do you have a peculiar looking plant you don’t see often? 🌱 Meet Guilinggao the Labisia ‘Turtle Back’ who has fondly been called Turtle Boy because I always forget how to pronounce the name I gave him. That’s usually how it works, right? 🤣 I picked up Turtle Boy a few months ago, and you have likely seen photos of him on my feed. He’s difficult to find information on, but I continue to look, and use what I do find so he stays happy. He is a relatively slow grower, but I’m always so excited to see how he is faring each time I check on him. Plus, look at the detail of those leaves! Does this count as a pet turtle? 🐢

Here are fun facts about this lovely plant, which is still probably my husband’s favorite.
🌱 Requires at least 70% humidity, so I keep him in an empty glass aquarium with a few plant friends to get hihh humidity.
🌱 New leaves can come in a variety of colors such as a reddish/maroon, brown or green.
🌱 Some Southeast Asian countries use this plant for medicinal purposes.
