We are so very saddened to hear of the passing of Atlanta Rhythm Section's keyboardist, Dean Daughtry.
Dean started in a group called The Candymen, which if I'm not mistaken was represented by Bill Lowery. He also briefly played with Classics IV, who also worked with Lowery Music. He then joined the Atlanta Rhythm Section and remained with them until a few years ago, when his health caused him to have to retire from touring.
We are so appreciative of his talent, music & friendship and send out deepest condolences to his wife, family and friends.
Karin Johnson on behalf of Bill Lowery Music

We’re sad today to announce the passing of our long time, and original member Dean “OX” Daughtry.
Dean was also a member of The Candymen, that were at one time the touring band for Roy Orbison. At 20 years of age, he went from being in a local band in Alabama, to playing in Australia and Europe.
After a short stop in The Classics IV, he decided to throw his future in to a band being formed by Buddy Buie that was going to be named The Atlanta Rhythm Section.
While ARS is known to be a guitar centric band, just listen to the recordings and you’ll realize the contribution that Dean brought to the band.
From the first chord of So Into You, and the introduction to Imaginary Lover (both co-written by Dean by the way) he left his imprint on the bands recordings.
For 49 years he never missed a gig, until his health forced him to retire a couple of years ago, cutting short his goal of 50 years.
He was like a Bulldog, but his friends knew him as “OX”
Our hearts go out to his wife Donna, and his family.
We’re gonna’ miss you, Ol’ Buddy !

We are so very saddened and sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Post.
Jim's song (recorded by himself & his wife at the time - Friend & Lover) "Reach Out of the Darkness" was a hit in 1968, reaching #10 on Billboard's Hot 100. A cover of the song was featured in Target's Threshold (their line of home goods) commercials, circa 2013.
Our condolences go out to Jim's family and friends.

Recording under the name Friend and Lover, Post and his wife made the top 10 with an optimistic protest anthem.

Bruce believes this is at Ga Music Awards - in the lobby/bar of the Omni Hotel, probably 1977.

We haven’t posted in awhile so here is some Joe South to enjoy. "Games People Play" won the Grammy for both Best Contemporary Song and for Song of the Year! Not too shabby for a protest song!

Joe South (born Joseph Alfred Souter; February 28, 1940 – September 5, 2012) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Best known fo...
